THS Lifts and Kicks 1982 and 83 Karate club kicks off to a new year. With outstanding members Bruce Mays and Mark LaBash, in addi- tion to them T.U.H.S. had a great start with many new members. Instructors, Mr. Fish and Mr. Dahl gave complete effort to help improve our Wolverines strength. Strength in Karate lsn't the only one we have. Weight lifting is a very important aspect to all students who put any kind of effort in giving their best shot, in Wolverine strength! Jose Luis Moreno holds the record as the best weight lifter at the high school: at 195 lbs power' cleaning and 275 lbs benching. Bruce Mays has a black belt in Karate. He is the most outstanding person in Tolleson's Karate Club. 93

Golf Team Grows Tolleson didn't have a golf team last year. But this year we had eight team members. All home games were played at Estrella Mountains. Two out of 12 games were won. Tolleson two victories were won over Carl Hayden. The coach, lVlr. Mroski, saidg Lack of experience was our biggest draw-back. We did improve with every match and should be com- petitive in the future. RAMOS PLACES FIRST Coach Morales felt this year's wrestlingteam improved great- ly from the previous year. Rudy Ramos and Jeff Coronado placed lst and 6th place at the Greenway Wrestling Invitational. Jeff Martinez, Carlos Rodriguez, Frank lbarra and Henry Va- lencia placed 2nd at the Phoenix College Wrestling Tourna- ment. Tony Valencia and Mike White placed 4th at Phoenix College. Rudy Ramos and Eddie Garcia won lst place at the Scottsdale Christmas Wrestling Tournament. Mark Cravens and Rich Rojas took 6th place at Scottsdale Wrestling Tourna- ment. These achievements were cheered on by the Mat Maids: Melissa Lovett, Lupe Gonzales, Edie Pina, Lorraine Perez, Yvonne Vasquez, Senaida Moreno, Nellie Echeverria, Sandra Vasquez, Yolanda Ramos, Debbie Brady and Sophia Conde. Other participants on the wrestling teams were: Pat Coker, Jeff Coronado, Joel Ramos, Pablo Garcia, Dave Navarro, Ben Trevizo, Julio Rodriguez, Don Swann, Rick Rojas, Tony Valen- cia, Dwayne Henn, Jerry Marafioti, Mark Bejarano, Tomas Le- vario, Frank Quezada, Mark Cravens and Ricky Goodwin.
