The Nightingale Pledge I solemnly pledge myself before God and in the presence of this assembly: To pass my life in purity and to practice my profession faithfully. I will abstain from whatever is deleterious and mischie- vous, and will not take or knowingly administer any harmful drug. I will do all in my power to maintain and elevate the standards of my profession, and will hold in confidence all personal matters committed to my keeping, and all family affairs coming to my knowledge in the practice of my profession. With loyalty will I endeavor to aid the physician in his work, and devote myself to the welfare of those com- mitted to my care. Our Pin VVhen the first class of the Toledo Hospital Training School for Nurses graduated in 1895, they received an intricately designed pin which was made from a ten dollar gold piece with the initials 'cT.T.S.', encircled in a wreath. There is very little information available as to the pins origin. Every graduating class member has re- ceived this ping though, due to government restrictions on defacing of money in the 1920's the pin is now made of yellow gold. In 1947, the lettering on the pin was changed to 'fT.S.N.,l by the Alumnae Association. Again in 1959 the letter- ing was changed to f'T.H.S.N. to include The Toledo Hospital School of Nursing.
