Emergency and Outpatient In addition to our many and varied experiences on the wards, we expand our knowledge in other divisions of the hospital. For a two week period we learn how to handle many unusual situa- tions in the Emergency Room. Here we function as a team to handle minor injuries or major illnesses. Another part of our education involves the Out-Patient depart- ment, which consists of a variety of clinics. These clinics are at- tended by people in our area who are unable to afford and receive adequate care. Dietary Service In our first year of training we are presented with a course in Nutrition, where in labs we make and sample some of the special foods that our patients must eat or drink. As we pro- gress on into our second year we spend four weeks in Diet Therapy. Here we learn the values of special diets in different diseases.
