J ' ff ff 71? wl f qw CLHSS PHUPHECU Dear D1ary After thlrteen years of sa1l1ng the Atlan t1c Ocean Ideclded to return to the Clty of Toledo Iowa Wh1le b o a r d 1 n g the plane owned by the Sm1th and Mattmgly Corpora tron who shouldId1scover to be pllot none other than Walter Cherveny Enterlng the ess Jeanette Shayer who d1rected me to a seat next to Roger Steveson who now sells recond1t1oned cars that he has dr1ven F nally a r r1v1ng at the new Toledo Alrport bu1lt by the Ferry and S1chra Construct1on Company I hopped a cab owned and drrven by Marrlyn Thompson whose motto 1S you re m a hurry Walk l Arr1v1ng at the b1g Nekola and Svoboda Hotel I was luc ky enough to get a cho1ce room from the three rooms mak1ng up the hotel The elevator was run by Ella Jean Yanda who replaced Max Stanford wh1le he was on vacat1on After refreshxng I decrded to look around I entered the Rhodes and Burma Nlghtclub where Dorothy Whal1n srngs lullab1es accompaned by Dorrs Emerson on the p1ccolo Wh1le wa1t1ng for my dxnner I bought a pack of Clgarettes from the Clgarette g1rl Mary Ann Wacha She told me the next act would be Gerald Eermsse and h1s tra1ned mlce S1 ttlng at the next table was none other than Eugene Garretson and Bob Vlasak Eugene 15 mayor of Toledo now and Bob drlves a hot rod every Sunday at the Toledo Race Track owned by Bob Z molek and Thelma Young who have fx nally Jo1ned forces After a h1lar1ous n1ght Idec1dedto get some rest, as I was go1ng to v1s1t the Hxgh School the next day Durxng my tour of the new school I v1s1ted the Super1ntendent's Offxce and found Honey Cllburn asleep at h1s desk, and h1s s e c r e ta r y, Mary Jean Novotny bus1ly typ1ng Not w1sh1ng to dis turb theml walked down to the locker rooms and found Coach McCann boast1ng of hrs younger football days Later on I encoun tered two teachers Jerr1e .Ioens and Esther Hayes scoldlng two freshmen for chevnng That n1ght I attended the local theater owned by Gene Rogers Between shovesl wandered 1nto the televlslon lounge There I encountered L,1ll1an Sturtz Dlanne Slev ers and Ruth Wllson swoomng over Leon Ferrxss who was smfnng Oh I-Iavel Stayed Away Too L,onrr Leavrng the theater I declded to go to Beck s Bean Pot At the Bean Pot I found Beverly Zachmeyer and Esther Bruene as head bean servers They had an act called the Jumplng Bean Jumble r s The head Jumpers were Naoml Blake June Chlzek and Vaneta Flowers who f1nally ended up Jump1ng 1n everyone s champagne Leavlng the Bean Pot mn a slrght hurry I encountered Professor Sells who IS now wr1t1ng a book called The Brams of Humans are Declmmg The nextday I saw a professlonal g1rls basketball game between the Toledo Tw1n kletoes and the Gladbrook Puddles Betty Enegar B eve r ly Hennesy and B e rn1ce Wacha called the Three Twrnklers are becomrng famous Wanda Ruff and Mar JOT16 Emerson are two famous reffs rmport ed from Afr1ca Just for th1s SP6C1al game After such exper1ences as these I was glad to get back to the oc ean and sa1l for Lower Slabov1a Slgned, Ronald Cockrel V In non -Eg!
