ffl -. fig 'w MW i' an Captain William R. Crenshaw William R. Crenshaw was born in Colon, Panama and is the son of Captain R. S. Crenshaw, USN CRETD. Captain Crenshaw attended the Naval Academy and graduated and was commissioned Ensign in 1937. After serving aboard the USS YORKTOWN for live years, he served on the staff of COMCRUDIV 5, as instructor at Fleet Virginia. He has served with NAVAMPHIBASE, Little Creek, Va, PHIBPAC, FADTC, San Diego, and as Executive Oiiicer of the TOLEDO. Promoted to the Gunnery schoolg and as Commanding Oilicer of CIC, GTC Little Creek, rank of Captain in 1955, Captain Crenshaw became Chief of Staff, Commander Cruiser Division One. Captain Crenshaw is authorized to wear the Bronze Star Medalg American Defense, Pacific Theater with 3 stars, World War II Victory Medalg Korean Service Medal and Korean Defense Medal.

E . Rear Admiral Alfred G. Ward Born in Mobile, Alabama, Rear Admiral Ward graduated from the Naval Academy in 1932. Upon graduation, he served aboard the USS NORTHAMPTON in the Gunnery Department. In 1937, he attended a course in Ordnance Engineering at the Postgraduate School, at Annapolis. He continued instruction at MIT and received the degree of Master of Science in Electrical Engineering. Rising to the rank of Rear Admiral in August 1957, Admiral Ward has served as commanding oilicer of the USS HOLLISTER, CRUDESPAC staff, COMDESDIV 102, and Commander Transport Amphibious Squadron Eight. Prior to becoming Com- mander of Cruiser Division One, Admiral Ward served as Deputy Chief of Staff to CINCLANT. Among other awards, Admiral Ward Wears the Bronze Star Medal with Gold Star and Combat V , and a Commendation Ribbong American Defense Service Medalg American Defense Service Medalg and World War II Victory Medal.

311, 7222 f l 4 fl 1U N X M Na+ Nl ll --C l:'i .L Eff mga-ia: Captain Elliott Loughlin While attending the United States Naval Academy from 1929-1933, Captain Loughlin distinguished himself as an athlete. He was a member of the All-American basketball team in 1932 and 1933 and was a member of the varsity tennis team for three years. Upon graduation in 1933 he was awarded the Thompson Trophy which is presented annually to the Midshipman who has done the most for the promotion of athletics. Captain Loughlin graduated from Submarine School in 1938. During World War II he commanded the USS S-4, and USS QUEENFISH and was awarded the Navy Cross, Gold Star in lieu of a Second Navy Cross, Silver Star, Bronze Star with V and Presidential Unit Citation. Following World War ll, Captain Loughlin served as operations officer, Commander Submarine Force, Atlantic Fleet from 1945 to 1947. This was followed by tours of duties, as Executive Officer USS ORION, Commander Submarine Division 62, and Executive Oiiicer U. S. Naval Station and Commanding Oiiicer of the Historic Ship, USS REINA MERCEDES, at the U. S. Naval Academy holding this billet until July 1952. He then served as Chief Staff Oiiicer to Commander Submarine FLOTILLA ONE, and as Commander Submarine Squadron 3. This assignment was followed by a tour of duty as Director of Athletics, U. S. Naval Academy. Prior to reporting to TOLEDO, Captain Loughlin commanded the USS MISSISSINEWA.
