You can thank Alfa Division every time you eat a meal, have your laundry done, or ride a liberty boat ashore. The four Cangs7' of Alfa Division, under the supervision of LTJG Ehlke, CWD Mackey, and Chiefs Kennedy and Cray perform many valuable services to TOLEDO. Members of the Steam Heat Gangn, headed by Pop,' Priestly, MMT, may be seen at any time of day or night dashing about the ship with faces set in grim determination. They can be identified by the precision instruments of their trade-Stillson wrenches, hammers, hacksaws, etc. This small handful of men is responsible not only for the heating systems aboard ship, but also for the laundry and galley machinery, hydraulic boards, steering gear, anchor windlass, airplane crane, and deck winches, to name a few. The Ice Machine Gang , led by Weston, MMT, are the boys that really know how to cool it. ln addition to the reefers they take care of all scuttlebutts and air conditioning units aboard ship. Brown, ENI, and his boys of the Boat Cangw keep all the boats as well as the emergency diesel generators in good operating condition. Then there is the Machine Shop Gang , led by Anderson, MR1 and Smith, MMT, who are generously assisted by the Welder, Carey, ME1, and the keeper of the crib, Lassiter, MRI. WI-IERE'S MY RELIEF?
