Each TOLEDO Marine stands 8 hours guard duty every other day. Around the clock, 8-I2, I2-4, 41-8, the Guard is relieved and posted. It is a never ending cycle of Marine vigilance. They make up the main striking force of the Ship's Landing Party, consequently attendance at frequent classes on tactics, wea- pons, and other military subjects is a must',. Our crack drill team participated in and won the llth of July Parade at Huntington Beach, California and high honors in the American Legion Parade in Bellingham, Washington. Several weeks are set aside for infantry training at Camp Pendleton and Okinawa. Markmanship training and requalification con- sumes another two weeks at Camp Mathews. Constant physical exercise sessions while at sea keep the Marines prepared.
