, ff Command of a ship is the responsibility of one oflicer. To meet this responsibility the officer exercising command must achieve the integration of the various departments of the ship into a teamg he must combine the efforts and contributions of the teamis components with his experience to produce, correct, promote and properly evaluate decisions, While at the same time being mindful of the health, welfare, morale and training of every individual in the ship. The ultimate measure of success of command is the ability of the ship to perform any task she may be called upon to do. Such success while the responsibility of one man, can be obtained only through the understanding, co- operation and hard Work of all hands. This latter is what has made TOLEDO a fine ship and on the following pages is the story of the men who did the worli. To all of you Well donew and my thanks for a happy cruise.
