It can be played and interpreted in so many ways, stated Royce Tevis, band direct- or. lt's not like classical music where you just play the notes exactly how they're printed. ln jazz music the key word is improvisation. To prepare for this dif- ferent type of music, the students spent a lot of time studying theory and DI'aCtlClhQl.
