Assuming the reins of the team was former Tokav graduate SandV Drake. Coach Drake hoped to improve last vear's fifth place finish in the San Joaquin Athletic Associa- tion. With 20 of 52 gil'IS returning from last vear's team, Coach Drake thOLlQht the team lacked the necessary experi- ence to have a contend- er. Top swimmers on the team according to Coach Drake were freshman Melodve Morris, individual medley, Lori Dean, preaststroke, Julie Han- kinS, fl'eeStVIeg and Cath- erine Cobb, packstroke. Diving coach Ty KelIV believed the diving team would finish high in the SJAA standings. The team's strength belong- ed to senior Patrick Kline.
