ANNUAL STAFF ADVERTISING UTURE USINESS EADERS MERICA Introduction The first school annual or yearbook was printed in 1954. This tradition has been kept alive by the continuing classes. The Class of “69” once again is following in the footsteps of previous classes in presenting this yearbook. The purpose of any annual is to give a retro-spective glance of the people, places, and events in the past. This annual holds for the class of “69” a treasure full of memories, memories of schoolmates, teachers, and events. ADMINISTRATION Superintendent’s Message TO THE SENIOR CLASS OF 1969: We now approach the season of the year when graduation becomes a reality. I congratulate you on having arrived at this day. It is my sincere hope that each of you will carry into adult life those things that you have had instilled in you as a student at Todd-Grant that will challenges that you encounter in the forthcoming years. Seniors, we are living in a changing world—yesterday is different from today. The past is finished and the future is upon you and “stands with folded hands of mystery”. It has come to challenge you and bear you on to higher and nobler heights. It is a distinct pleasure to have worked with you. I hope your future will be as happy for you as the past year has been for me working with you. Principal's Message C.A. DeVillars It is again I have the honor and pleasure of saying to you, the Graduating Class—Congratulations. To me, this is a most solemn but happy moment. For twelve years I have served you as your administrator. We have had differences of opinions. We have had some good days and we have had some that did not please you or me. But through understanding, patience, desire and work we have both reached a point in our lives of personal and group satis- faction. I know that for some unknown reason I have failed to do some of the things I had hoped to do for you, and 1 am sure that you realize that you did not accomplish some of the things you had in mind during these twelve years. Let us not concern ourselves too much about that which we did not do, other than letting it be a reminder that we must make every moment count. Be cautious of the present and scrutinize carefully your plans for the future. Strive always to be a credit to your family, your Country, State, Nation and yourself. Be every mindful of the pitfalls of life that may beset you if you are not careful to set your aims high. We sincerely hope that the knowledge and inspiration you gained at Todd-Grant will serve as a force to move you toward a life of service and dependibility. Dedication We, the members of the Senior Class, have chosen to dedicate our annual to you, our parents. In this small way we wish to say “Thank You” for your sincere understanding and guidance. We deeply appreciate the interest you have shown in us and the many ways you have helped us so that we may be better persons. Thank you for that extra push, that encouraging word, and unfailing kindness. We love you very much. The Senior Class of 1969 MRS. A. D. GARDNER 'Dedication WE, the members of the yearbook staff of 1969, who are about to pass forever from the land of high school students; thank you for all what you have done for us during the four years that we have been under your supervision. We pause near the end of our high school days to say, “Thank you!” MARTIN L. KING, JR. 1929 Jh Memoriam AUG. 28,1963 (AT WASHINGTON, D.C.): “I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.” Zhe Senior Class Presents ANNUAL STAFF Eliza Francis Editor-in-Chief Jimmie Lee Francis Advertising Manage: Elizabeth Jones Assistant Editor Alberta Littles Sales Manager Myles Grant Sports Editor Peter Walthour Photographer Wash Bennett Treasurer Janie Lee Baker Art Editor Louis Riggins Business Manager Tommy Pinkney Reporter Susie Baker Typist Mrs. A.
