Zable of Contents DMINISTRATION Superintendent’s Message TO THE FACULTY, TIGER STAFF AND STUDENT BODY: I should like to express my appreciation to you and the parents for having contributed in any way toward making this a successful school year. To this year's senior class I extend my sincere wish for a profitable future. 1 hope that each of you will continue your education so that you will be better equipped to take advantage of opportunities as they arise. May you put first things first and remember there is satisfac- tion in a job well done. Sincerely, W. E. Ethington, C. S.S. Principal 's Message Never in the history of our society or in the history of education has there been a greater demand on schools to provide for human needs as the time in which we pres- ently live. Thousands of dollars are being provided by Federal and State Governments to ini- tiate services that a few years ago were not dreamed of being the responsibility of the school. I believe that the intent of the many programs is good and well meaning, but I question the application in many instances. As I look after the performances of many of our students, I often wonder if some- how we are not creating unintentionally, a desire on one's part to want something for nothing. Work in its truest definition (something accomplished, something moved) to me should certainly be more gratifying in getting the job done that being a part of the scheme to have someone else do it and I enjoy the fruits of their labor. Another thing that concerns me is this idea of doing just enough to get by. 1 wonder sometime if those among us that have abilities really strive to give the best that we have in every respect to get the job done or do we just want to do enough to get by? No one is able to determine how good he is or how much he can accom- plish unless he is also willing to strive for excellence through hard work. Yes, the world owes us a living but we must work hard to collect it. As I congratulate you for the work you have done in school and on this annual may I also urge you to do your best at all times in life. Don't seek something for nothing and above all be appreciative of those who helped to make it possible for you to enjoy your past and present privileges. Continue to accept and discharge those responsibilities that are yours unmistak- ably because of the rights and privileges you do enjoy. You have my best wishes for continued success in your pursuit of excellence and I hope that you will always be a contributing factor in our complex society. Dedication Parents, this is only a small way of saying that we appreciate your guidance, encouragement, faith, tolerance, and love during our twelve years of school. It is through these sincere endeavors that we have realized our dream of reaching gradua- tion day and we pledge our continued efforts for these same type achievements be- cause we know you are pleased when we succeed. With hearts full of love, we dedicate not only our yearbook, the 1967 Tiger, to you, but our lives as well. 7 8 President Jimmie L. Palmer c L A S S Vice President Ronald C. King Secretary Lois O.
