Principal’s Message I should like to begin by saying congratulations, for I believe this to be in order for a goal reached. But I wish that those of you who are responsible for this accomplishment (your annual and your graduation) and those to follow will not become complacent. True you have done well--yet there is much to be done. With the many changes, long over- due which are taking place in our society, there is no time for idle thinking. The Civil Rights law recently passed does not make it easier for any of us, regardless of race. All must prove themselves worthy of our great heritage only to be found in America. The intent of the law is good, but it will only work, if all of us realize the impor- tance of the Fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of man. We must put forth every effort to be fair one to the other. Even to the extent of leaning over backwards to prove we are our brothers keepers. We must realize that rights and responsibilities go hand in hand. We urge you to demand your rights, but prepare to shoulder your responsibilities. Do not expect something for nothing or hope to share in the harvest without labor. Become conscious of your strengths and weaknesses and control them both to the end that you will become a producer as well as a consumer. I point with pride to many of our former students who did not have as fine facilities as you, but have done real well and have made us proud. Can we depend on you to do the same? Good luck and thanks for the contributions you have made thus far. C. A. DeVillars, Principal

Superintendent 's Messape TO THE TIGER STAFF AND STUDENT BODY: I want to take this opportunity to congratulate you, the Senior Class, on reaching this milestone in your life. We are today living in a world changing so rapidly that we cannot afford to let graduation from high school end our education. Education is the most important of our assets, it is the asset that gives meaning to all others. The strength of our country in the future rest on the ideas and knowledge of its citizens. I hope each of you, upon graduation, will continue your education if at all possible. The door of opportunity is open to the one who is best qualified. The one who is truly successful is the one who finds a job to do and does it knowing when he has finished he has done his best. My best wishes are always continued success of each and with each of you; with the faculty, with the school, and with the all. Sincerely, £. W. E. Ethington County School Superintendent
