It is a sincere wish of the Staff that the readers will constantly bear in mind the spirit in which this task was undertaken, and the object it was designed to fulfill. It is primarily intended to penetrate the memories of our years of as- sociation together, and to immor- talize the scholastic, social, and athletic fields. To those who in any way contri- bute to the realization of this publi- cation we are deeply grateful. May the '59 Tiger serve as a kind of token, inadequate of our sense and gratitude. We, youths of today, ask your understanding as we prepare our- selves for tomorrow, Teach us, friends of this communi- ty, to be aware of our own responsi- bilities as you work for the advance- ment of all of us. Guide us, our faculty, to follow the ideals established; yet encourage us to think for ourselves. Let the fresh breath of our enthusi- asm be your inspiration. Accept us without coddling; chal- lenge us without doubting. This is our prayer to you, along with these three goals which embodies the spirit which we seek to sustain on our campus - CHARACTER, in sincerity and strength; SCHOLAR- SHIP through efforts and interests; POISE, in dignity and grace.
