'lolin Anders liarl. a wc-ll-known resident of Toccoa Ifalls. was born in Bryson City, North Claro- lina, April 1-4. 1871, and died at 'Ioccoa Falls. May 6. 117-19. Mr. Earl was a successful business man who gave freely of his means to different schools and charitable organizations. In addition. he was responsible for the education of several young people in both Toccoa Falls Institute and Tallulah Falls School. A substan' tial gift from Mr. and Mrs. Earl, made possible the erection of the three story building on the campus of Toccoa Falls Institute named Earl Hall, in which is located class rooms. the canteen and several of- fices, Mr. Earl was well known to nearly every student at Toccoa Falls and was dearly loved by all of them. Mrs. Earl still lives at Toccoa Falls in her new home The Haven of Rest , which is located near Morrison dormitory. Her green thumb is producing marvelous results in the improvement of the landscape of the Toccoa Falls campus, and although Mr. Earl has passed on, the influence of their ministry is still being reflected in the lives of the young people who pass through the halls and rooms of Earl Hall. james Scott was born in 1881 near Toccoa, Georgia. His family moved near the present Institute campus when he was 14 years of age and some years later he began to work on the present grounds which were then occupied by the old Haddock Inn? XX'hen Dr. Forrest purchased Haddock Inn, lim Scott began work for the Toccoa Falls Institute and continued here without interruption for the next 41 years. Uncle jim , as he was affectionately called by the Institute family, was much loved and respected by all who knew him, for his faithfulness and willing- ness to help in any emergency. He passed away December 12, 1951. leaving a vacancy among the, workers at the school which will be hard to fill. REV GUSTAVE WOERNER Head o Murzom Deparlment Several years ago an officer of the British Royal Naxy vias approached with the question Sir how long would t require you to carry a message from His Majesty the King to every part of his far flung empire? After a few thought ful moments and a little computation the officer replied Eighteen months Eighteen months and every part of the British Empire would be reached with the King s proclamation' Eighteen months and all would hear and know the message of their King' Wrth shame the Church must acknowledge that nineteen centuries hase passed and strll there are millions in heathen lands who have never heard the proclamation of the King of Kings and His message of Salvation' If The King s business requireth haste the Church needs to be roused and challenged anew at this late hour to speed up her world evangelism program With world conditrons as they are what we do must be done quickly We must either carry the Gospel to the ends of the earth with greater rapidity as we are commanded by our Lord or the religions and cults of this world will take it away from us. In the face of this great need and urgency let us renew our devotion to the Lord esus Christ and determine by His help to make a greater contribution to the accomplish- ment of this stupendous task-the speedy evangelization of the world. It is the one great task remaining to be done and the one great sign yet to be fulfilled before the Lord returns. The weekly schedule consists of five jail services and six street meetings. Many of the memhers are active in pastorates in the nearhv towns. A verv important phase of their Christian service are the missionary deputation teams which 'T carrv the missionary vision to many 4 churches in the State of Georgia. Together with the Christian Service League, they share the responsibility of taking the gospel to over 4500 children in Stephens and Habersham counties. Other phases of the work are hospital visitation and tract dis- tribution. The three gospel cars, which J are owned and operated by the Ministerial W, Association and the Christian Service , League, travel over 1000 miles weekly. The maintenance of the cars is strictlv under the supervision of the fellows of the association, Everyone has his field to SOW, to cultivate, and finally to reap. Throughg this channel of service. the members of the i Ministerial Association are cultivating the il seed for the coming harvest. XVe cannot see the seed as it grows and develops but , time will reveal it. . . , he that soweth to l the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. .t. - -la :fa-- - .-Q V+: ft . . XVith the assistance of the Ministerial Associa- tion, the organization covers 1000 miles and reaches approximately 1500 children. The fi girls have the responsibility of taking the gospel to thirty-one county schools, colored and white, in Stephens and Habersham counties. The county school work is the main phase of the service rendered by yn-members of the league. Several of the girls serve as teachers in the five home mission Sunday schools which are con- ducted every Sunday. There are many other channels of service including hospital visitation and special weekend deputation teams. The expense of keeping three Ps gospel cars on the road daily rests wholly upon each member of the Christian Service League and the Ministerial Association. Great responsibility and challenging oppor- tunities are ours. The purpose is to lead the children to the Lord jesus Christ and teach them to live as children of God. Is 7' child evangelism important? jesus said, 1 Suffer the little children to come unto me and forbid them not for of such is the kingdom of God. l X .eva y ,v 1 gl . Spmzmr ....,....... ......
