For many of us, it was our first prom. The Junior Prom was held at the Newport Sheraton Islander Inn on Thursday, May 22, 1987. Entertain- ment was provided by the locally renown DJ Jim Vann from 94 HJY. Although the weather forecast- ers had predicted a rainy evening, the sun ap- peared during the early afternoon and conditions for our first prom were perfect. Choosing a king and queen for this event was very difficult, but the selection was finally made and the winners were announced. Our king was Mike Braga and the queen was Gretchen Neville. By the end of the evening, our prom theme song reflected the feelings of everyone. We wanted to Never Say Goodbye to all the memories that were made during this exciting and funfilled evening. The Ti- gers' season started on a high note with a big win over Burrillville and then suffered losses to archri- val Portsmouth and Mt. Pleasant. We came back to defeat Portsmouth Abbey and Classical be- fore the homecoming defeat to Central Falls. After the homecoming game the Tigers never lost again, defeating Ponagansett, North Provi- dence, North Smithfield, Central, and on Thanks- giving Day Warren 15-8. We finished our season 8 - 3, only the second time in the school's history that a football team has won 8 games, and earned the right to say we were the first team to beat Warren in Warren. Outstanding performances were turned in by se- niors Paul Amaral, Henry Kulpa. Scott Mello, Bryan Sefrino, Bill Sylvia, Scott Peixinho, Mike Carreiro, Mike Braga, and John Lavery.
