DEDICATION We, the class of 1987, dedicate this book to Mr. Ronald Crane for his loving support through the past two years. When no one else wanted the overwhelming responsi- bility, Mr. Crane generously donated his time to our class as adviser. A Liberian child named Momo Sher- man stole our hearts as we received carefully written letters from him and together wrote replies. He is now seven years old. Through Momo we’ve all grown together in compassion, unity, and even hu- mor. As we get to know him better, we hope some- day our little boy will be able to meet his benefac- tors. More importantly, maybe someday THS will meet Momo. Student Council Row 1: Judy Carreiro. Beth LaForge. Rebecca Winegardner. Julie Pino, Holly Sylvia. Kristen Carreira. Thomas Fernandes. Every morning the students and faculty at THS are greeted by the familiar voices of the PA Club members. With the help of their adviser, Mr. Poniatowski, they advise us of the day’s and week’s happenings. Such information as when the next trip to Trinity Square will take place, when junior class rings will be distributed, where the next basket- ball game will be held, and what to do if you are planning to go on the ski trip to Mt. Homecoming The good times surrounding October 18 were quite impressive and certainly some- thing that the Class of ’87 will remember about their senior year! Homecoming '86 proved itself to be one of the most successful ever at THS. School spirit week kicked off with twins day ; boy. did we see some funny looking pairs on that day! Thursday was THS Day (that's tie. hat. and suspenders). Finally on Friday, (which was maroon and white day) we demonstrated our spirit at the annual pep rally. Little did we know, the best was yet to come. Saturday’s football game was a complete sucess. a sunny day. lots of friends, a terrific car rally, and a team win over North Smithfield with a score of 18 to 15. Danny Gaughan and Allison McKenney will certainly remember being crowned at half-time as Homecoming King and Queen. The good feelings kept on rolling as we launched into the Homecoming Dance at 8 p.m. that night. Jim Van from 94-HJY rocked 325 THS dancers until 11. We couldn't ask for a more fitting ending to such a great week ... and such a fond memory. Homecoming MARCHING AND CONCERT BAND Top left: The band at Tiger’s football game. The Concert Band presented its Christmas Concert on December 17 and its spring concert in May. The band also competed in the RIMEA Band Festival, which is held every spring. The cafeteria was trans- formed into an exciting dance floor and the music was provided by “Music Express.” We realized that night that this was only a taste of what our senior year was going to be like, and we were eager to sample more. The Sheraton Islander in Newport provided an elegant setting for our Junior Prom, which took place on June 5, 1986. It was surely a night which we won’t forget, with fancy clothes and an exciting atmosphere. The electricity on the dance floor even spread to the faculty; no one could keep his feet from tapping. The music was provided by Music Express,” and we all left with smiles on our faces, memories that will last forever, and anticipation of the year ahead as The Class of '87”!! Secretary Sr. Officers FOREIGN EXCHANGE AT TIVERTON HIGH I'm Elvia Puente, a foreign exchange student from Mexico. I have come to the United States to learn English culture and customs of this beautiful country and to transmit the culture and customs of my coun- try, too. I’m very happy to be at Tiverton High School. It is very big and pretty nice. I like my class- es; they are chorus, physical education, French, shorthand, computation, art, and English. There is nothing that I don't like because everything is so new to me. I’m making a lot of new friends, too. I consider myself very fortunate to be here in this school where everything is very nice—the teachers, students and the school. I like to attend American football games; the Tiverton Tigers team plays very well and the marching band is beautiful and plays very well, too. I’m living with the Richey family who are very nice people. I help Mrs. Jeanne to prepare salad; sometimes I prepare Mexi- can dishes for my host family. Sunday morning we go to church. I enjoy living with the Richey family and attending Tiverton High School. I am never going to forget this wonderful experience that to me is invaluable. I want to give my thanks to all my teachers and friends for giving me their hand when I need help in something. Thanks a lot to all.
