TIVERTON HIGH SCHOOL HOME OF THE DONATED BY CLASS OF 1980 Tiverton High School Tiverton, Rhode Island great thing in this world is not so where we stand, as in what direction we are • To reach the port of heaven, we must sail sometimes with the wind and sometimes against it — but we must sail, and not drift, nor lie at anchor. — Oliver Wendell Holmes SIN BIN 00 Top row: Mr. H. The above definition clearly states the purpose of this page Through the years we have come in contact with and have established meaningful relationships with many coaches and advisers. Therefore, to dedicate this book to one person would be an impossible task. We wish to thank all who have given us guidance, shared their knowledge, and spared their time for our well-being; these gifts that we have received are priceless and will remain in our hearts forever. j The joys I have possessed are ever mine; out of thy reach, behind eternity, hid in the sacred treasure of the past, but blest remembrance brings them hourly back. 6 — John Dryden SENIOR SECTION Class of ’80 Mr. Rodriques became our advisor in 1974, naive in the ways of advising a class, yet eager to help us grow and prosper. We have shared both good and bad experiences, but Mr. Rodri- ques has never given up on us. Even though we have been ready to quit a number of times, he has persisted. Mr. Rodriques has helped us to realize how valuable teamwork and cooperation are. He has taught us to respect each other and to believe in ourselves. Mr. Rodriques has played a major part in our growth and maturity. He has taught us values that will remain with us for- ever. We love and thank you. The Tigers proved to be the best by capturing the Central Division title for the second consecutive year. The Tigers' outstanding league record of 22 victories and no losses and an overall record of 24 wins and one loss proved to be one of the best records in the Rhode Island Interscholastic Basketball League. Special congratulations go out to the six seniors who formed the nucleus of our team: Arthur Guimond, Dennis Souza, Scott Towers, Joe Solomon, Kenny Welchman, and Dave Sincoski. Then three losses in a row put the team at 2-4 mid-way through the schedule. The team is a young one, and lack-of-experience mistakes have been a factor in most losses. The team’s two wins in the first round were over long-time rivals Middletown and Portsmouth.
