14 Glad Providing programs for Assemblies was the job of the Assembly Club, a job that turned out to be lots of work along with the fun. When we met with Miss McKinney, our advisor, the ideas would fly thick and fast. Putting them into shape was a different matter. But we had lots of fun presenting our student sing early in the year, followed by a variety show that brought down the house. The quiz show later on really put the students, and faculty too, through their paces. Everyone seemed to enjoy the programs we did put on a great deal, and we enjoyed the experience we got out of it. We are very grateful to Miss McKinney for her help and guidance and for helping make our Assembly Club a real success. '59W14 - - fbaahe alla 6' L The '59ers Drake History Club was organized in 1947 to study local history, and has .since completed several booklets concerning Titusville and vicinity. W Our club attended the Northwestern district conference of the Pennsyl- vania Federation of junior Historians, held in Meadville this year. john Hannigan, elected president at the meeting held in Titusville last year, pre- sided over the meeting on .Xpril 26. VVe joined this group in I9-18, and last year one of our booklets was published in their bi-yearly magazine, The junior Historian. During the Pennsylvania XN'eek celebration our club was called upon to place an exhibit on display at the Y. M. C. A. Ours was the only educational exhibit in an otherwise completely industrial presentation. VVe met with our advisor, Miss Clark, during activities period on Monday. afzfiilq Glad Every boy that has earned a letter in a varsity sport or any girl with two years of cheerleading to her credit is eligible to become a member of the Varsity Club. The purpose of the club is: To improve the scholastic standing of the athletes of Colestock High School 3 to aid the athletic authorities in every way possible and to produce athletic teams whose members are worthy represen- tatives of the student body. This year to obtain funds to buy athletic sweaters and awards, we sold air-filled cushions for the comfort of the spectators at games. VVe also operated hot dog concessions at the various athletic events. - em A book on Pennsylvania, please, said a voice. Here you are. Please bring it back before next Friday, was the polite response of our efficient student librarian. This girl was one of the twenty-two members of our Librarians' Club, which meets in the Library every Thursday during Activities Period. Many interesting things are discussed during our meetings, such as how to classify books, how to make displays, and how to help other students with reference work. At the beginning of the year we were each assigned a shelf to our care. This includes putting books back and keeping the shelf in order. Two of us work at the desk each period. VVe also learn how to select books for the library. The chief purpose of our club is to give girls who are interested in books and future library work a chance to learn about this field. Our advisor is Miss Carson.
