As major money makers, the class sold pizza at Pow-Wow Days, and sponsored the annual Junior Social. As juniors, the members had to try to decide their plans for the future. Many juniors visited colleges and college representatives throughout the year. Schools Exchange Students Several Wyanet students at- tended two Tiskilwa classes this year, Spanish and Home Ec. This is the second year that Tiskilwa welcomed Wyanet students in their halls. These students were Ray Alverez, Christina Cain, Kim Canton, Dai Peterson, Margaret Lind, Mike Yan- del, and Robert Jeffrey. There were only nine seniors, accompanied by three juniors, out for the Varsity squad. To try and solve this dilemma several freshmen and sophomores were recruited to help out. Still one problem remained, this being the size and inexperience of the Fresh- Soph. However, in years to come this experience of varsity play will prove to prevail for the Fresh-Soph. The Indians had victories over Western, Wyanet, and Depue. The defeats were against Walnut, Bradford, Annawan, LaMoille, Wyo- ming, and Atkinson. Most of the sophomore players doubled their time by playing varsity. Going against bigger players resulted in more injuries and physical exhaus- tion. However, this experience will help the players in future years. We are proud of our Indians. S Robert Prusator has been head coach at Tiskil- wa High School for 28 seasons. During these 28 seasons, Coach Prusator has obtained a record of 530 wins and 199 losses. Fourteen seasons con- tained more than 20 wins. These included: 1958-59, 1965-66, 1 966-67, 1968-69, 1969-70, and from 1976 through 1985. Tiskilwa was a dynasty and Prusator alone ruled it. His teams were disci- plined. They ran a struc- tured offense, a trapping defense. In 1983, Prusa- tor led his best team to an Elite Eight berth in the state meet in Champaign. Prusator is a member of the Illinois Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame. In 1986, his 530 wins were the 22nd best in the state. He took one team to the state meet, won 40 tour- nament titles, including 16 conference, eight re- gional, and one sectional championship. November 28, 1986. Basketball Coach Year in Review: 1985-1986 had its high's and low's. The THS Volleydolls won their way to the Sectional Championship game. They were also the first sports team in Tiskilwa's history to have an undefeated conference record. Robert Prusa.tor's basketball legacy came to a close. After 28 years of coaching at Tiskilwa, he retired. On March 22, a banquet was held in his honor. Speeches were made by former players, other coaches, and his good friends. He also received letters from Jim Thompson, Mike Ditka, and Ronald Reagan. On January 28, the world grieved to hear the Space Shuttle Challenger had exploded 75 seconds after take-off. Seven astronauts, including Christa McAuliffe who was the first teacher in space. died in the explosion. Relations were tense around the world as terrorism increased. Libya's leader, Muammar Kaddafi, openly encouraged these violent acts around the world. Another big issue was Apartheid in South Africa. Here at home Willie Nelson was in charge of the Farm Aid concert which was held at the University of Illinois to raise money for farmers. Bears' fans cheered as William Refrigerator Perry and Walter Sweetness Payton plowed through their season to a Super Bowl victory. Halley's Comet made its appearance, but could only be seen well in the Southern Hemisphere. Big movie hits were Rambo: First Blood Part II, Color Purple, and Ont of Africa. The top TV shows were Cosby, starring Bill Cosby, and Miami Vice, where Philip Michael Thomas and Don Johnson started the 'AVice clothing trends. Counter- clockwise: swatches were the latest fashion craze. Ally Sheedy and Judd Nelson starred in St. EImo's Fire, Rob Lowe appeared in Youngblood. Heart performed at the Peoria Civic Center. Madonna married Sean Penn and Whitney Houston sang her way into our hearts. Prince's singing career continued successfully while Michael J. Fox starred in Back to the Future. Sting broke free from the Police and Molly Ringwald fell in love in Pretty in Pink. Ah-ha swept our hearts away with their hit song Take on me. Baroque jewelry, big flowery prints, and shaker sweaters were the winter clothing fads. Gunne sax prom formals were the ultimate. Levi's were still around, while Reebok and Espirit labels appeared on clothing around the country. Lastly, our leading lady, the Statue of Liberty, had a make-over for her 100th birthday.
