Each class and organization select a boy and girl to represent them in the election for Mr.and Miss Indian. Mrs. Reid, Sponsor, Glenda Rowland, and Mr. Mrs. Donnie Rowland and children also went. 10 11 12 13 mi i ' «S 1 Tfi? ft Every Which Way But Loose 4-th place-Sophomores The 1979 Tishomingo High School Homecoming parade gracefully rolled down main- street with a most exquisite line up. Floats, queen can- didates, and cheerleaders all added sparkle to this event. The air held the distinct fragrance of mums and just a slight tingle of excitement. The evening was high- lighted by the crowning of the queen, Pam Upton. And with 34 to 0 victory over the Healdton Bulldogs, the evening was a twilighted memory. V, 14 Throughout the 1979-80 school year the Tishomingo High School Band has dedi- cated much of their time living up to past reputa- tions and keeping high standards. The marching, blowing and sweating all payed off as numerous awards and honors were bestowed upon the Pride of Little Dix- ie . But there were times when the smiles and ap- plause of the crowd were the only rewards. Edmond was selected by his classmates as Smartest in Senior Favorites and was one of the candidates for Mr. Indian. In addition to his scholastic achievements Edmond has been a member of the band for eight years. He has served as Vice Pres- ident of the band and is an escort for the 1980 Band Coronation. Edmond plans to enter the medical profession. During the past few years he has been an active member of the Medical Explorers sponsored by the hospital. He has served as President of this organization. Salutatorian of the Senior Class is Sherry Smith with a grade point average of 95.37. During her Senior year Sherry has played an active part in helping to promote school spirit as a cheerleader during football and basketball season. As a Junior Sherry was a member of the flag corp. Sherry was elected Sweetest by her fellow classmates for Senior Favorites. During homecoming Sherry was one of the queen candidates for Football Queen. This year was unique. Four of our high school basketball girls were elect- ed by the basketball boys; one would be chosen as Queen. Four high school bas- ketball boys were elected by the girls; one would be chosen as King. These four young ladies and gentle- men were honored during the half-time of the boy's game. Miss Mary Boman and Mr. Dewayne Akins were chosen as the 1979-80 Basketball King and Queen. Under the direction of M. P. Doc Bennett, one of the more outstanding and most active of these students is Jeff Yearby. During his two years of boxing Jeff has won six championships and has had one runner-up championship. Last year Jeff boxed his way to the finals of the Senior Division of the State A. A. U.
