Doip It Our WAyff TishoiviiNqo hiqh school Tishomingo, Oklahoma HONORS SPORTS ORGANIZATIONS ADMINISTRATION FOREWORD IN the beginning an idea is born. It takes shape, and blossoms into reality. Our new school was an idea. An idea born with much thought and planning. As it took shape, that dream became reality and reality is now. Now must also have personality. Personality is reflected through student life. We have taken you at your best, at your worst, and in moments of success and failure. Whatever you do you have your own special way of doing it. That's what makes you unique--One-of-a- Kind. The 1977-1978 yearbook staff has strived to project, Doin' It Our Way! in the 1978 Indian. We hope you like it. yEARbook staFF Sharron Sneed AdvisOR Bottom Row, Left to Right: Joan Rushing, Debbie Jester, Theresa Autry, Sherri Stoddard, Gabby Alvarez, Violet Hart, Julie McDonald, Charlie Locke, Advertising Editor; Melanie Hamilton, Tracy Houser, Sports Editor; Kay Kin- dell, Organizations Editor; Letitia James,Editor; Connie Thompson, Honors Editor. 4 (1) Marcus Reid making his Valedictorian speech at Freshman graduation. Webster defines spirit as an in- fluence that stirs up and rouses en- thusiasm and loyalty. It is the feeling that every THS Indian should experience sometime during his or her high school career. Not everyone will experience this emotion in the same way or in the same proportions, but there is still that feeling of pride and loyalty. Throughout the year students of THS have made posters, held pep assemblies and gone home from ball- games with colds and sore throats. As Webster defines Spirit ; we also define and pronounce it as In'-di- ans! ★★★★★★ (1) Bouncing and bubbling with spirit, the cheerleaders lead the student body in a pep assembly. Each fall Homecoming proves to be more exciting than the year before. This year was no exception. Spirit was high, and everyone was enthusiastic. Through the years we've all learned with and about each other and have attempted to prepare ourselves for the lives we will each live. We've shared a lot of good times that we will never forget and some bad times we would like to forget. We've learned responsi- bility and how to set and a- chieve goals. This is the case of this past football season, which for some of us is the last year. Now, all that is left is memories. Memories that shall always hold a special place in our minds. We remember the gruel- ling two-a-day practices in hot weather and the desire to get just five minutes more sack time before going to those early morning practices. After three weeks in full pads; the season opener came against Plainview. We knew they were out for revenge. We had defeated them in the playoffs last year. It was a hot evening, and those torturous sprints and agilities paid off. The second game of the season was against Healdton which was also homecoming. We kept telling ourselves a dance was no fun unless it followed a victory. Sure enough, at the final whistle the victory was ours, but not without a battle. For the next two weeks we couldn't seem to move the ball on offense. The de- fense had kept us in the game, yet, we couldn't equalize the opportuni- ties. Finally, against Wilson, we began to get it together, rolling over them 35 to 0. Then came Marietta, our only rival. The seniors had never been beaten by them. That piece of his- tory was not to be denied. Onward marched the Indians to Lexington, there to be declared the victor. Lamarr Stevenson 84 Lynn Parten William Wilcox Chuck Goodner Gary Sims fey lynn parten The next week meant breaking history. Nineteen years was long enough for the Indians to loose at Coalgate. How well I remember that game. It was not until there were nine- teen seconds left to be played in the game that I realized we had won the game even though the score was 27 to 0. The next game against Wynnewood was a very important game. This game meant either a district championship or runner-up for the state playoffs. It was a hard fought game. Neither team gave up. The determination of both teams resulted in only one score. It just wasn't meant for us to be the winner. The last game of the regular season against Dickson proved to be uneventful. The best part a- bout the game was that everyone got a chance to play. And so, we made it into the playoffs for the third Alan Muse straight year. We knew Plainview was ready; but, were we. Coach Wyatt said to stay loose, and we Sam Holt Derek Collins did. We went to Plainview taking away any momentum they had to beat them 24 to 0. Then came Comanche. We had nev- er played them before and strange teams give us trouble; yet, we were still re- laxed going into the game. The first half was pretty even, but the second half told the story. To this day I can't understand how they beat us by 32 points. In our minds we will replay those dramatic games over and over again. We wiil also remember all those faces which smiled and cried for us. For most the season's end is not important, but for many seniors it is one we're not likely to forget. 85 Scoreboard Tish Opponet 14 Plainview 6 8 Healdton 6 7 Sulphur 15 10 Newcastle 26 35 Wilson 0 16 Marietta 6 34 Lexington 7 27 Coalgate 0 0 Wynnewood 7 47 Dickson 0 PLAYOFFS 24 Plainview 0 0 Comanche 32 fc ?fo thing we won't (1) Tish tries to break the defensive game by throwing a pass to Marcus Reid in the endzone.
