THROUGH THESE DOORS The 1970 Yearbook Staff Presents THE “INDIAN” Forward Through These boors. . . Through these doors will come many feet-the feet of many Tishomingo Indians. They will come thundering on the war- path. They will come trampling in victory. They will come dragging in defeat. But always they walk forward-never lag- ging behind. These doors open to a world of excitement. Bells ring-it’s classtime—study and books, pop tests and then those dreaded report cards. Bells ring-it’s fun times-ballgames and banquets, class plays and dances on homecoming nights. But inside these doors we strive to learn, so that we can open any doors which appear before us on our journey through life. 2 Table of Contents DEDICATION ......................... 4 ADMINISTRATION ..................... 5 SEVENTH GRADE.......................13 EIGHTH GRADE........................17 FRESHMEN............................21 SOPHOMORES..........................25 JUNIORS.............................31 SENIORS ............................37 HONORS..............................45 ORGANIZATIONS.......................65 SPORTS..............................81 ELEMENTARY..........................99 GRADES..............✓..............103 YEARBOOK STAFF.....................124 3 To ] ou We Dedicate This 1970 Yearbook The yearbook staff of 1969-1970 proudly and affectionately dedicate our yearbook the Indian, to you, Mr. William Gene Francis. The highlight for the THS band was making their third ap- pearance at the Cotton Bowl on New Year’s Day. The stu- dents worked hard all year raising the money and practicing for the trip. Very seldom does a band ever get asked to re- turn to the Cotton Bowl as quickly as the THS band did, and when they are asked to return it usually isn’t for their third appearance. The band also participated in may other activities this year. They were the Oklahoma State Fair, bringing home 1 tro- phy; Konowa Marching Contest, bringing home 3 trophies. Southeastern State College’s homecoming parade, bringing home 1 trophy, and they also brought home 2 trophies from the Madill Christmas Parade. They also marched in the East central homecoming parade, Tishomingo Chickasaw Festi- val, and they are planning to attend Enid Tri-State. 79 Brenda Sewell, Sr. Janet Harbert, Sr. Jan Rogers, Sr. Majorettes Add Sparkle to THS Sand B. Another year.....another book! There is so much that can happen in a year's time that it would be nearly impossi blc to recapture all the fond memories held by the stall Yearbooks do not just happen. They are the final result ul a great deal of planning, immeasurable weeks of work and long hours for the “cause”. Long, hard hours sometimes even nights, which result in the finished product. We have tried to catch T.H.S. on the move with its stu- dents, its teachers and its achievements as we have seen them. Total credit could never be given to just any one person for the final publication of the '70 Indian. It takes a staff and last, but not least, a sponsor. Some have entered through these doors in happiness, some in sadness. But all have come with one main purpose .... to learn. As they have come with varying moods, so they will leave with different goals for the future. As the school year ends many will walk through these doors for the last time and enter into their chosen profession. But each will remember the training that he re- ceived behind the doors of this institution. Now as the summer months approach and another school year ends, the doorways will once again become silent and a hush will fall throughout the halls. But the calmness and serenity will soon give way to the rush and noise of students returning to receive an education to help them to reach the goals in life. For through these doors have walked and will walk the leaders of tomorrow: and on their shoulders will rest the future of our country. 128
