Always a helping hand in fact, hardly ever a word But somebody has to laugh at my jokes GARY WYATT Greater men have lived, but I doubt it MELVIN YOUNG If you didn’t get caught you didn't do it A SENIOR SALUTE as presented at the annual football banquet A lot of Seniors are here for the last time It was to honor them, that we wrote this rhyme. They will be missed a lot, on that you can bet, And for all of them, may football not end yet. For surely some college will need our boys, For they are full of vigor and have much poise. Take Baker, for instance, with the winning toe. He is danger itself against any foe. Then comes Sandy’s ability to hit. He has a lot of play left yet. Now Melvin, our dependable lad. Has made many players look very sad. And Max with his ability to catch impossible passes. Is sure to bring squeals from all of the lassies. Then let's not forget Sudsey and all of his tricks. For no other boy can hand out such hard licks. And Jim Sipes can cut them down fast. For when they get up they know who has passed. Now Ray is short, but strong and mean, And on defense he is really keen. And then there's Gary, always ready to drive. Football's his love, and on it he thrives. Raymond is speedy when the ball he does find. Tucked safe in his arms, there are few of his kind. The two Mikes may be a bit small, But they are not afraid of players seven feet tall. Jim Bivins delights pinning opponents for loss, Always eager to go when the coin is tossed. Tackling and blocking and carrying the ball, Robert, I'm sure, enjoys them all. SENIOR, OASS PROPHECY Linda Mclnnis, Fern Rogers and I decided to return to Tis'nomingo for the Alumni Banquet after being away for ten years. Linda and Fern are both successful models in New York. When we arrived at Tishomingo we decided first on the list would be to find a motel. The first one we saw looked inviting and as we were checking in we found it was owned by none other than Leon Davis and Jerry Love. When we asked about some of our other classmates, they informed us that all we had to do was walk down main street to see many of them. So we decided to make a tour of the main drag. Upon our entrance to the first beauty shop we found two classmates; Carolyn Gray and Andrea Shannon. They said that Gary Nix owned the adjoining barber shop. We also learned from these girls that Freddie hacker was in the dry cleaning business, Rex Lokey was editor of the Capital Democrat, and Johnny Anthony had the Champlain station. Like father, like son, I suppose. Farther down the street we noticed a sign that read Baker and O’Halloran Recreational Club.” And, of course, it was owned by Roger and Raymond. Those boys spent so much time in the pool hall, I guess they decided to make a profession of it. Across the street we spotted a veterinarian office owned by Butch Warden. He told us Kay Warden and Peggy Hart were married to their steadies and competing against one another to see who could raise the first baseball team. We learned from Butch that Mike Lovett and Mack McCarthick both had their own farms. Guess those Bullard Chapel boys are there to stay. By this time we had to stop our tour and go to the banquet. As we were registering we met Barbara Cobb and Jeannie Bell. It seems they were both danc- ing with the Rockettes from Radio City. They always did love performing before an audience. From these girls we learned that Linda Hamilton had a very exquisite beauty salon in Dallas, Jane Bullard was a prominent lawyer in Reno, that Maria Easterling and Linda Duke had tied down the boys they had been after in high school, and that Sue Mactin and Melvin Young were married and running a hospital in Yugoslavia. Next we ran into Jerry Belcher, Gary Wyatt, and Sandy Northcutt. These three were still bachelors and taking advantage of every minute of it. 1 never found out exactly what their occupations were, but was assured Jerry was in business for himself and never got up before noon. We next saw Ora Stevenson and Ella Williams. They are both private secretaries. They always did enjoy shorthand so much. These girls told us that Alford Williams and Ernest Brown had gone into business together and were really making quite a haul. Also that after the fine job LaSalle Perry did in the Junior play, he was hired to make the snoring noises for all the Broadway plays. Andy Cox was hired as full-time photographer for Tish-O-High. Robert Wood now plays professional basketball and Mike Mclver plays pro football. At the table next to ours sat Susann Canada and Janice Davis, They are both and have a whole house full of kids. They told us that Lynda Davis was married Always knew those two would work something out. Leslie Norton is still peddling newspapers and Jimmy Sipes and Jimmy Bivens are now teaching Biology and English at the high school. 1 knew that after the time those two boys spent in those classes they’d be authorities on the subjects. Dewayne Wellman is the manager of a large business in Oklahoma City and Charles Bardin and Gary Deaton have a huge pig farm just east of town. We were also informed that Earl Beaver was now in the big-time car racing and that Jerry Swain still lives at Ravia and has a huge family. Larry Winkler was the administrator of the hospital and Nita Griffin and Doris Huff were the two head-nurses. Knowing this of all our friends, we were quite convinced that we had graduated with a very successful class.
