Finally this busy, exciting year must draw to a close, the halls will grow dim and the classrooms quiet. Main SENIOR CLASS PROPHECY One morning in 1975, as I sipped my coffee I glanced at the newspaper to see what was happening in the world. The headlines said that astronauts Ronald Hart and Douglas Durington were still on Mars. At Cape Ken- nedy. Dr. James Booker had made radio contact with them. When asked if there is life on Mars, Ronnie and Doug had radioed back. There's some life on Saturday nights, but the rest of the time it's pretty dull. An- other front page story said that prominent attorney Danny Wood was busy defending his client. Elza Upton. A world-famous game hunter, Elza had been caught hunting in Africa without his hippopotamus stamp. The inci- dent was causing an international scandal and it would be a tough case for Danny to win. Reading about these former classmates of mine from THS made me begin thinking of my other classmates and what had become of them in the past ten years. I knew that Tresia Ray had married a politician and was making society news every day. William Wellman was Director of the Peace Corps, and Sheredith Nail was a secretary in Washington, D. C. Becky Estes had written a book called The Balladier, ” which is in its sixth printing. If she could print faster, maybe it would sell better. Mary Stewart had become a top executive in Girl Scouting and had developed a new badge for girls to earn—the 'Practical Joker' badge. Stella Shockley went into TV and is quite famous. She tells the Fractured Fairy Tales on the Bullwinkle Cartoon Show. Ted Key is in Hollywood, producing and starring in his own movies. He's so rich and successful that he can even afford to let his wife have her hair fixed at Sue Duke's exclusive beauty salon in Beverly Hills. Sharyn Wheeler went to California, too, and learned to surf. She makes Linda Hallmark get in one end of the swimming pool and splash wildly until the waves are big enough. My friend Linda Harbert still holds those cheerleading clinics at Murray University. She told me that Terry Wood coaches football there and that Marva Mullens hasn't missed a game in years. Linda also said that Toni McCarthick manages a rest home for retired basketball players in the town of Port Alligator, Florida. Emmett Brown is now Vice-Principal of the high school in Tish and several of our classmates are in the school system. Betty Gibson is head librarian and Wanda Davis is office secretary. Tommy Henderson coaches basketball there. Linda said that Liz King still loves dancing, and since she married a football coach, she gives all his players free lessons. Janice Pigg started a beauty college in Tish after marrying that cute boy she used to date. I have some wonderful memories of my high school days. I'll never forget our Senior Play and 1 guess two of my classmates remembered it, too. because Keith Thomas quit college the first year and went to Greenwich Village to write poetry, while Linda Sneed became an expert bongo-player. Last time I heard, Ethel Roberts and Sara Henderson were in San Francisco singing in a popular jazz group. Bonita Hightower owns a restaurant in Hawaii. Johnny Eaves became a pilot and his plane crashed in the Pacific on an island inhabited only by beautiful girls. When the Air Force finally found him, Johnny refused to be rescued. Sounds like Johnny. Sharon Black became a minister in her church. Donna Martin married a Baptist preacher and they have five mean little boys. Linda Hendricks is a Dorm Mother in one of the Boy’s Dormitories at Murray U. The other day my dog was feeling low, so 1 took him to Debby Parish for a check-up. She's a prosperous veterinarian now. She told me that Bill Winkler is getting rich selling insurance and Otis Stevenson is paid $25 an hour just to count Bill's money. She asked if I’d heard of Jesse William's good luck. Jesse was having a water well dug in her back yard and oil was found instead. Debby said that Robert West and James Hairell are both ranchers and bring her all their sick animals to treat. Then we discussed Tish's busiest morticians, Mickey Peercy and Lonnie Shelley. People are just dying to do business with them. They hired Janice Pace to play their organ and on Saturday nights Mickey and Lonnie gas up the hearse and ride around town throwing water bal- loons and laughing insanely. I guess that job finally got to them. The Class of '65 was probably the laziest, noisiest, craziest bunch of kids ever to leave Tish-O-High, but we are sure that the place will never be the same without us. The Athletic Department of Tishomingo High School has felt for the past few years that we should supple- ment our Athletic Program with something that would be of tremendous value to our Athletic Teams and to the individual. We believe we have found this with our Weight Training and Isometric Training Program. One of the major individual traits to be learned is responsibility. Ve believe that by starting this program at an early age is advantageous to the individual as well as the competitive Athletic Program. The rewards coincide di- rectly with the effort of the individual. We believe the Weight Training and Isometric Training Program will help make us winners in life as well as winners in athletic endeavors. The Little Plumber Tishomingo, Oklahoma We would like to take this opportunity to express thanks to the many people who have made this yearbook possible. First our appreciation goes to our sponsor, Mr. Delver, and to our photographers, Mr. Roberson, Mr. Francis, and Mr. Wilson. The publication of this yearbook would not have been possible if it weren’t for under- standing teachers who were lenient and thoughtful enough to excuse students to work on yearbook when a dead- line was approaching or pictures being made. Now the book is finished, and we hope that we have worked a tangled mass of plans, pictures, and names into an INDIAN which in a special way reflects Tish-O-High 1965. '•-v-.-V. - -‘1 1 x ■ • .
