The team on the whole had a very successful years Near the end of the season they started on a Winning Wstreaku and Won six games before they were dcfoatedcby Nappanee at the State Tournament. iTipton loses half of its basketball members this year, but it seems as if in another year or two Tipton will again have another state teams The second team. made no outstanding record but-the e erience they gained is far better than any kind of a XP d This is the first year that Coach Ward has let recor . freshmen and sophomores play in the second team games and he played them most of the time. The players on the first team are: John Horton, Bob Pontius, Jack Jones, Tomm Green, Mark Ertle, Phil Benson Jack Burdge, Ed Schuck, Dick Turnbell, and Howard Tunmer. The first five men were Green, Ertle, Pontius, Jones and Horton. GIRL'S BASKETBALL The NDashing Damesn just cculdn't be defeated in the basketball tournaments. The girls making up the team Were: Georgadene Bowers Lcaptainj, Uinifred Jenkins, Catharine'Ramseyer, J. Alice Racobs, Lorrine Schwyhart, Hazel Mink, Cristina Boyd, L. Unfortunately Tipton does koi: have a good track so that it is impossible for e boys who are interested to do any work before ' weather comes. This year the first call for was made about the first of April, just two ef fre two weeks the weather was cold and rainy and boys hardly had a chance to get one good work- JA, ,pp .EMT nj :Mg before the Central Indiana meet. During the J In spite of the lack of practice the boys par- -t4cipated in the Central Indiana meet nt Lafayette. Tie boys succeeded in winning 95 points in stiff competition, which is more than might have been ex- pected. The boys hed the opportunity of seeing a good Ymeet and observing some good performers and they learned a great deal from their trip. 1 4. J 1 The boys who went to the Central Indiana meet were: Cloud, Dickover, Gunning, Hamilton, Lockwood, Jones, Horton, J. Kattingly, McLellnnd, Snow, Turn- hell, and Richardson. There are several other boys who give promise of being track men another year. -yoteblyz Cox, Deakyne, Coleman, Bozell, J. Russell, MQ James, and Maurice Boyer. -' Mr. Runyon and Er. Hiatt were asked to essist Mr. Ward with the track because of the intra-mural soft ball program. At the beginning of the season there were more boys out for track than at any time in recent years. It is hoped that this interest 'continues and that some arrangements can be rmede whereby Tipton can have some track facilities in the future. F 1 V x lakh..
