Whitlatch '2l DEDIOGUON Cliff Krutsinger, a familiar man around THS, deserves a special page in this year's TIGER. Cliff has driven a regular bus route for several years. In addition to his regular duties, he often drives busses for extracurricular affairs. He comes running with a smile whether he is needed to drive a team bus, a band bus to contest, or the hot lunch ladies to a convention in Des Moines. Frequently these trips last all day. His favorite trips came this fall when he drove the football team to the WaMaC championship. To our friendly and cheerful bus driver, Cliff Krutsinger, we dedicate the 1966 TIGER. 22 KT -ri 11-IE CLAQQ OF- 1966 Jane Thomas Secretary Vice-President Mark Mente Mary Heald President 24 Pat Chambliss Treasurer Officer-at-Large Hans Heinrichs Diane Ahrens Linda Anderson Linda. Twenty-one modern school records were tied or broken by the teaxn. A strong running attack com- bined with a rugged defense led to a very fine 8-1 record for the season. The Tigers led the WaMaC Conference in both offensive and defensive departments. Dave Lovell, Chuck J ennings, and Dave Dickerson finished 1-2-3 in scoring in the WaMaC. Team records for one season that were broken are: 194 total points scored, 11 pass interceptions, single game score--33 points, opponents limited to 85 points for season. Chambliss The Tipton High School Girls Recreation Association had its most active year with many special activities and events in addition to the regular intramurals. The GRA started its year with a potluck supper at the park where senior captains were elected. The first team competition was a single elimination soccer-basket tournament. Both singles and doubles tennis tournaments were set up at this time. On November 5, the West Liberty GRA came over for an afternoon of activities, The groups ate a potluck supper together and had a songfest before going to the football game. Deck tennis toumaments were played through December and January. The junior GRA members sponsored a caroling party at Christmas time. One. of the year's highlights was the slumber party in the gym sponsored by the seniors on January 21. Basketball tournaments were held during February and March. The month of April in- cluded candy sales, a dance sponsored by the sophomores, and the hosting of the Dis- trict Playday. The climax of the year was the GRA Banquet held at the Ox-Yoke Inn in the Amana Colonies on May 4. Awards for the year were presented with Patti Jo Conway's team winning the over-all championship. This event was sponsored by the freshmen and put the final touches on a year full of fun and activity. IO7 Hans-Wemer Heinrichs, the sixth AFS student to come to THS, lives with the Dr. Walter Kopsas. Back home in Germany, he lives in the small town of Sprendlingen. While in Tipton, he participated in many activities. He was a member of Thespians, MEGAPHONE, Plato Fan Club, Chess Club, AFS Club, and gymnastics. He had roles in Home Sweet Homicide and Carouse1 . Yet he still found time to maintain a high scholastic average, be- coming a member of National Honor Society in April. We at THS have enjoyed having Hans in Tipton and have leamed much about him and his country. I-Ie is a nice addition to the Class of 1966. AFS This year, AFS Week sponsored by the AFS-French Club, was held March 28-April 1. The tea, panel discussion, activity party, and brunch were but few of the many events planned. This year's AFS Week was said to be the best yet. 108 A FQ-FRENCH 9. Ss. . ROW: S. Roberts, J. Dodds, S. Schnack, L. Feldman, E. Agne, R. Howe, J. Swan, M. Tate, Mrs. Eberly, E. Wehde, P. Without everyone's efforts, our job could not have been done. As usual, there are many people behind the scenes who never get credit for the long hours of work they put in. Such is the case with many members of my staff. Deadlines would not have been met if Ellen Wehde hand't taken extra pages home to work on or Mr. Clark from the Tipton Newspapers hadn't come to school whenever we called to take a picture or two. Many thanks also to the faithful members of the staff who came whenever a meeting was called. To all of the Tipton businessmen, we owe our tha.nks, for without their backing the '66 TIGER would not have existed. Also many thanks to Jeanne Dodds and Patti Jo Conway and their advertising staff for coming through with pages when the going was a little doubtful. A very, very specialthanks goes to our sponsor, Miss Wittmer, who, new like the rest of us, learned fast and sometimes the hard way. Without her patience and understanding, my job would have been extremely difficult. With these words of thanks and those to the people who have helped in the many small ways too numerous to mention, I give up my editorship to Sally Schnack and Sue Roberts who will have the job in '66-'67.
