Petrosky as Sophrony Trotter, M. Shriver as Joe Pendleton, R. Secrist as Hepsey, D. Avery as Ruthe Thorne. Greg Hoover who played James Ball was absent. Lavender and Old Lace “Lavender and Old Lace was the fall play presented by the Drama Club. The story concerns Mary Ainslie (C. Bazini) who resides alone in a New England village among her memories, lavender flowers and old laces. She has a’ temporary house guest when her neighbor's neice (Donna Avery) when her aunt (janet Bowen) goes to Eu- rope. A young newspaper reporter, Carl Winfield (Jim Bazini) comes to town and is soon engaged to Miss Ainslie's houseguest, Ruth. Tragi- cally, Carl loses his eyesight and Miss Ainslie rushes to help for a very secret and personal reason. The play was produced Decem- ber 2 and 3 and was directed by Mrs. Barr and Tony Miller as assis- tant director. 14

Sunshine Express Students had a chance to take a break from the daily class rouitine during the convocations sponsored by the Student Council. The first convo was a group called “Sun- shine Express. “Sunshine Express ' a singing rock group, from Cincinnati per- formed for the student body on November 30. It was performance that many would remember for quite a while. The nine young men and women involved the audience and had them clapping and singing along. Opening their program with Play That Funky Music, they also sang a top 40 medley, hits from the early 70's and several songs from the 50's. For the Christmas convocation, the student council presented the movie, The Cross and the Switch- blade. After the movie, refresh- ments of cookies and punch made by the home ecomomics classes were served in the commons area.
