'W V English is essential to education because it builds our vocabulary, teaches us good public speaking, and helps our reading ability. All three facets are accomplished by the different sections of the English department. English I, II, III, and IV prepare the student for college and general life conditions. Taught by our capable teachers, these classes can be interesting as well as informative. Speech and reading also come alive with the help of our speech teacher - Mr. Wiltse, and our reading teachers - Mrs. May- eaux and Mrs. Phillips. It helps the boys build their minds as well as their bodies. Our capable coaches are willing to spend their time to help these boys reach their full capacity. P.E. also offers inner class competition which gets everyone enthusiastically involved , whether or not the student is a varsity athlete. The Tioga Girls' P.E. department is known parish-wide for its many accomplishments. We have three of the best teachers possible - Mrs. Betty O'Kelly, Mrs. Kathy Holloway, and Mrs. Rose Franklin. Girls' learn many skills and routines in the classes that they may use throughout their lives.
