Debate Manager, Greg Peters and First Year Manager, John Ashworth debated in a tournament at Redlands University. Research Manager, Bret Gunnell and Tournament Manager, David Stewart won second speaker and fifth speaker at Loyola. 1 Olfb KSKiN “The First And Finest Larry Bluth and Reed Williams joined in debating at Redlands. The first Forensic team chose The First and Finest as it's motto for the year. Coming to Timpview with forensic roots deep in the proud tradition of excellence developed at Provo, and with the National Coach of the Year, the new team quickly established a national repu- tation of its own. Timpview dehate teams represented Utah at major national tournaments across the country. Timpview won honors during the summer and the school year at Georgetown, Loyola, Ffar- vard, Marquette, USC, UCLA, and U.C. Berkley. These honors and the' awards won in Utah indeed made Timpview's debate year an example of the First and Finest. 61
