MASS HISTIIIW Four years of high school are over for the class of 1958, and another milestone in our lives has been reached. As we look into the past we see PROGRESS, which is an important part in the development of any class and for which we are most grateful. Our first two years it semed as if we hadn't walked very far, although we must have progressed to reach our Iunior year which brought class organization under the leadership of our sponsors, Miss Bossenga and Mr. Nawyn. After electing class officers gNick Wieringa, President: Bern Tameling, Vice-President: Grace Overzet, Secretary: Dot Hozendal, Treasurer: and Linda Bozema, Vicar-the school activities seemed to take on real meaning. ln the fall of that year, as Iuniors we sponsored the annual All-School Party and gave everyone in the high school an opportunity to get better acquainted with each other. Then in the spring the play, The Family Nobody Wanted was presented. Through these and other various activities we were able to raise money for a gift to to our school and for our class trip. In the fall of 1957 we were SENIORS and what goals we had in mind! So with much energy and loads of enthusiasm we started up the paths of activity and accomplishment. Offlcers elected were President, Bob Van Pooleng Vice-President, Bern Tameling: Secretary, Marge Belgrave: Treasurer, Beverly Bulthuis: and Vicar, Eleanor Vander Velde. Our first project was the presentation of our senior play, The Hoosier Schoolmaster. This was followed by several luncheons, a skating party, car washes, and the selling of pop during noon hour. As we were stepping along, we finally reached our dream-the trip to Washington, D.C. and its surrounding countryside during spring vacation. What a week of beauty it was to behold those cherry blossoms, and see God's wonders in nature all about us! To express our joy could never be written in mere words. Then came the rush of banquets: Iunior-Senior, Awards, and the Senior Banquet. Much could be written on each one, but we must hasten on to the last mile on our journey which is graduation. On the evening of Friday, Iune 13th, 1958, thirty-three seniors walked down the aisle of Oak Park Christian Reformed Church to receive their diplomas. Yes, we had reached the end of our high school days, and all would be starting on another pathway in life under the watchful eye of our Heavenly Father. Ruth Vander Velde Permanent locale? Soqqy sandwiches. Love that English class! Whatcha lookin' at? Scrumptious barbeque!
