WI Illlllf ll io fAo5e WAQ fAinA dig, Fifty years ago five men met on the West Side of Chicago to organize a Christian Grammar School. They felt the need of providing for their children an education that would honor and glorify God. This goal was realized, and Ebenezer came into being. The blessing of God was later to add the Timothy School. VVhen shifting populations forced a change, these two schools merged into the present Timothy Schools. Now increased growth makes real the need for a new high school building. Hitherto hath God led us! VVith gratitude to our Covenant God for the devoted men and women whose efforts have made these schools possible, we, the Class of l958, dedicate this Annual to the TIMOTHY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL SOCIETY. Pray dar , give mme 1 Our first home, Our growth, Our beginning, Our foundation, Our Strength, Our future. rxfff ff T ffziir A f Af . fa -f?.f.-jr if . ' f A, ,vi ,if 1 ani. f .. In accordance with the high standards of our school, the Board obtains Christian teachers who guide us in the paths of wisdom. We should be thankful to God for giving us these Christian leaders. Page Six lllllt PRI IIIPM The value of an education lies in its ability to elicit from the individual his native capacities and in its ability to relate him to the cultural framework in which he lives. Every Timothy graduate should know that in him dwells the footprints of God his Maker. His conduct and his use of his abilities ought to be a constant revelation to the world of his Saviour. To every Timothy graduate has been given knowledge of the footsteps Parents, plans, or problems? of the past, the heritage received from our fathers. To you graduates there is intrusted the responsibility ior the footsteps that make history today and tomorrow. May God bless you each step of the way. GLM. 21- giowsfiy it E6 BEBYL BEAN, B.S. MASS HISTIIIW Four years of high school are over for the class of 1958, and another milestone in our lives has been reached. As we look into the past we see PROGRESS, which is an important part in the development of any class and for which we are most grateful. Our first two years it semed as if we hadn't walked very far, although we must have progressed to reach our Iunior year which brought class organization under the leadership of our sponsors, Miss Bossenga and Mr. Nawyn. After electing class officers gNick Wieringa, President: Bern Tameling, Vice-President: Grace Overzet, Secretary: Dot Hozendal, Treasurer: and Linda Bozema, Vicar-the school activities seemed to take on real meaning. ln the fall of that year, as Iuniors we sponsored the annual All-School Party and gave everyone in the high school an opportunity to get better acquainted with each other. Then in the spring the play, The Family Nobody Wanted was presented. Through these and other various activities we were able to raise money for a gift to to our school and for our class trip. In the fall of 1957 we were SENIORS and what goals we had in mind! So with much energy and loads of enthusiasm we started up the paths of activity and accomplishment. Offlcers elected were President, Bob Van Pooleng Vice-President, Bern Tameling: Secretary, Marge Belgrave: Treasurer, Beverly Bulthuis: and Vicar, Eleanor Vander Velde. Our first project was the presentation of our senior play, The Hoosier Schoolmaster. This was followed by several luncheons, a skating party, car washes, and the selling of pop during noon hour. As we were stepping along, we finally reached our dream-the trip to Washington, D.C. and its surrounding countryside during spring vacation. What a week of beauty it was to behold those cherry blossoms, and see God's wonders in nature all about us! To express our joy could never be written in mere words. Then came the rush of banquets: Iunior-Senior, Awards, and the Senior Banquet. Much could be written on each one, but we must hasten on to the last mile on our journey which is graduation. On the evening of Friday, Iune 13th, 1958, thirty-three seniors walked down the aisle of Oak Park Christian Reformed Church to receive their diplomas. Yes, we had reached the end of our high school days, and all would be starting on another pathway in life under the watchful eye of our Heavenly Father. Ruth Vander Velde Permanent locale? In song the a cappella choir of Timothy brings forth its expression of praise and honor to God, the Giver of all that is good and perfect. Looking back on this past year, the memories that will be cherished are the Music Festival, the Christmas and Spring concerts, and the singing in chapel. Since the Bible instructs us to praise God with singing, may the choir continue to be a vital part of Timothy. SOPRANOS K. Bakker Acccmpanist, B. Bulthuis Asst Direc'or, I. De Maa IVI. Dykstra. L. The combined efforts of the band and its director, Mr. Qualkinbush, made this possible. With the beat of the drums, the blare oi the brass, and the melodious sound of the Woodwinds, the band thrilled many hearts at its concerts throughout the year. Their performances included the annual Christmas and Spring concerts and several assemblies, but again the highlight of the year was the trip to Calvin College in Grand Rapids. A talented cast portrayed Hoosier life a century ago. It depicted the story of a schoolmaster and the problems he had adjusting to the Hoosier way of living.
