DEDICATION Outstanding examples of the wonderful faculty that is a part of the Timmonsville system are Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Williamson, who have been not only instructors but also advisers and friends to Timmonsville students for many years. Their tireless efforts and unceasing labor to make our school a better one and to prepare its graduates for meeting the future have earned them a place in the hearts of those who have had the privilege of knowing them as teachers. With the exception of three and a half years during World War II, Mr. Williamson has served as agriculture teacher since 1934, helping and encouraging his boys to become better farmers for a better world. During these years he has acted as F.F.A. adviser, and for the past two years he has been supervisor of school busses and school bus drivers. Mrs. Williamson came to the High School in February of 1953. After completing that semester as English and social studies teacher, she took over the Home Eco- nomics department, where she remained for several years before returning to aca- demic classwork. She acted as a sponsor for the senior class for several years and also served as the J.H.A. adviser while teaching home economics. Always ready to lend a helping hand, in 1956 she agreed to transfer to the Junior High School. And so, with much love and appreciation for their years of devotion and service, we dedicate this, the 1958 Purple and Gold, to Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Williamson. 4

FOREWORD This is Timmonsville High School. It is a building—modern and beautiful. But it is more than a building. And so, when it has be- come old-fashioned and when its beauty has grown timeworn, in the memories of its graduates it will remain unchanged. It will live on through the memory of its numerous activities and groups--the faculty, the classes, the organizations, the clubs, the teams. It will live be- cause it has a human heart--its students--and-a lasting spirit of fellowship and learning. We, the annual staff, have striven to capture the varied phases of T.H.S. and a little of its spirit in this 1958 Purple and Gold so that in future years the days within these portals will be just as vivid when viewed in retrospect as they were in reality, for it is certain that a heart and spirit such as our school possesses can never dim or die.
