Class Prophecy The other day as I was studying, a strange lady came into my room. She called herself Lady Future, and she told me she was going to tell me what the graduating class of 1957 was doing twenty-five years later—in 1982. Brief- ly, this is what she said: Harry Conner is a big leader now --at the last convention he was elected president of the Street Cleaners. Linda Hill, nationally known artist, has just completed a painting of Duchess Della Locklair. Della received this title by marrying the Duke of Belgium Concho. ud Betts is a pi f ssorat the University of Ohio. He is teaching advanced courses in algebra, U fz Susan Hawkins has just made her debut into the musical world by giving her first big voice recital at the Metropolitan Opera House. Claude Spring, who was a witty fellow even in high school, has joined up with Martin and Lewis, to make the team a threesome. Lorraine Morris is wrestling for the Ladies’ Championship. Her opponent is the ferocious Frances Brown. Mildred Sansbury has just published her first book, A Happy Marriage. Mildred is now living with husband number four. Bobby Anderson and Purvis Anderson have taken over the Harryyames Band. For their leading vocalist they have hired Johnnie Mae Young, who has just recorded a hit record, Slap Her Down Again, Pa. Cale Yarborough, former football hero, has all the girls swooning, but his choice seems to be Mary Strother, famous Hollywood actress. Roger Tedder is a star on television. He sings the Dum-de-dum-dum for Dragnet. M.C. Carroway and Donald Harper are big businessmen, with M.C. owning a big chain of dime stores and Donald being the editor of the State. David McGee and Bobby Grant are co-owners of the biggest cattle ranch in the United States. They plan to hold their own rodeo soon, with all the trim- mings. Glenda Godwin is president of the national Elvis Presley fan club. Zulane Hanna, the newest member, has just received her life-long membership. Ramsey Mellette is a famous psychiatrist. But by what his nurse, Marilyn Pierce, says, he has just gone to see a doctor. It seems that he keeps seeing girls dressed in little pink suits and all looking like Ann Galloway dancing around him. Shine Kirven has an occupation to suit his name . Roger ha s recently opened his own shoe-shine shop. Delores Anderson is running an Old Maids' Home. She is addinga new courting parlor to it ’’just in case. Charles Severance has made a cool million at the horse races. He always bets on the horse that Arthur Hill, famed jockey, rides--he claims it brings his luck. Richard McElveen is a big businessman and gets to s i t behind a deskand dictate letters. His stenographer, Hattie Jean Kelly, says it takes her all day to write one letter, because Richard talks so slow. Berwyn Lawrence and Helen Hill make a happy couple. They both work in the fair, with Berwyn selling hotdogs and Helen dancing in a stage show. Marion White is a veterinarian who experiments on fleas, and Philip Ken- nedy is his assistant. Philip brings in the fleas, and Marion operates on them. With a start, I realized I had been day dreaming. But I will wait with great expectancy to see if these occupations befall my fellow classmates — the wonderful class of 1957.

Class History Memories are wonderful! They are as warm and as cherished as the first rays of sunlight on a spring morning. Especially so are our monsville High School in the fall of 1953 will always be s t memories. That year we elected Harry Conner as ass; and to help him lead those poor ninth graders were Richard McElveen, vice-president; Frances Brown, secretary; Ramsey Mellette, treasurer; and Susan Hawkins, representative on the student council. With Mrs. Dathan Baxley and Mrs. Margaret Brown as sponsors, we struggled through our freshman year. After three short months of vacation we returned, no longer fresh- classmen. We chose Purvis Anderson as our president;Ramsey Mellette, vice-president; Cale Yarborough, secretary; Susan Hawkins, treasurer; and Emily Mathis; representative on the student council. Miss Virgil F owler led us safely through the trials and tribulations of our second year of high school. The next year we found ourselves juniors. With a feeling of im- portance and an air of sophistication, we elected Ramsey Mellette presi- dent, Cale Yarborough vice-president, Susan Hawkins secretary, Johnnie Mae Young treasurer, and Helen Hill representative on the student council. With Mr6. James Donohoe, Mrs. C.V. Brown, and Miss Ethel Jane Fields as sponsors, we successfully presented One Mad Night, a three-act comedy. Then in the new gymnasium we entertained the seniors witha reception-da nee. Finally the big year arrived. At last we were seniors. We elected Ramsey Mellette president, Glenda Godwin vice -president, Susan Hawkins secretary, Em ily Mathis treasurer, and Purvis Anderson representative on the student council. With the assistance of our sponsors, Mrs. Lillian Wade and Mrs. James Donohoe, we successfully presentedanother play. This year we were entertained at the junior-senior dance. Finally we made the traditional senior trip to Washington and New York, an ex- perience we shall never forget. Now we look back on the last four years. Some of us have wasted these years, and some of us have taken advantage of them. But we must lookforward and strive for higher goals. After graduationwe shall jour- ney out into the world, but we shall never forget our four glorious years memories of our High School, from the time when we entered with such high aims and ideals until now when we are about to leave. men but dignified sophomores.
