Class History We, the class of 1956, shall always remember the years of 1952-56 with a smile on our faces and many fond memories in our hearts. During these years our minds have been filled with know- ledge and our lives with much happiness. It seems only yesterday that forty-five happy ninth grade students received their first taste of high school life. We elected as our president Carroll Player, who led us safely through the trials and tribulations of our freshman year. He was assisted by Lorraine Morris, vice-president; Harriet Jordan, secretary; David Baroody, treasurer; and Louise Atkinson, representative on the student council. The year 1954 found us no longer frightened freshmen, but sophisticated sophomores who wonderedmore and more how Tim- monsville High had m a na g e d before we came along. We chose Carroll Player as our president, Lorraine Lee vice-president, Harriet Jordan secretary, Chan Weaver treasurer, and Lorraine Morris representative on the student council. Before we realized what had happened, we were in the midst of our junior year. George Redick was elected president; Steve Rutledge, vice-president; John Jordan, secretary; Louise Atkinson, treasurer; and Glenda Anderson, representative on the student council. Under the guidance of our sponsors, Mrs. J.E. Donohoe, Mrs. C. V. Brown, and Mrs. Dathan Baxley, we successfully pre- sented The Boarding House Reach, a three-act comedy. Then, using as our theme Stardust, we entertained the seniors with a reception-dance at the Florence Country Club. At last came the year we all had so long awaited, tht year that we became dignified seniors. We elected Loretta Parnell president, Robert Workman vice-president, Lorraine Lee secre- tary, June Parnell treasurer, and Cecelia Hill representative on the student council. This, our last year of high school, held much for us. With the assistance of our sponsors, Mrs. Lillian Wade and Mrs. Gertrude Williamson, we successfully presented another play. We attended another Junior-Senior reception, this time as guests. Then came that wonde rful trip to Washington and New York which we had planned since the ninth grade. We shall always remember it. Suddenly, with a tinge of sadness, we realize our high school days are almost over. Yes, soon we shall graduate, but we know we shall never forget four of the most wonderful years of our lives -- the years spent in our alma mater, Timmonsville High School.
