Class Prophecy It is June 1, 1981, and I have just finished my new booklet, The Lives of the Timmonsville High Graduates of 1956. On com- mencement night I promised that every twenty-five years I would print such a volume, telling the doings and whereabouts of my old graduate friends, and senda copy to each of my former classmates. A quick glance through it tells me that: John Jordanhas risen to president of the Ford Rocket Company on Mercury. George Redick, textile manufacturer on Pluto, is making cloth from old dog hairs. George has hired Loretta Parnell, professional model, to advertise his flea-bitten bathrobes. Lorraine Lee is president of the Lonely Hearts' Club, of which Fanny Alexander and Deane Anderson are twenty-year members. Jewel Dozier and Glenda Anderson, famous actresses, are playing Mutt and Jeff on Broadway. Robert Workman, well-known cattleman from Mars, has re- leased his new book, 101 Different Ways To Milk a Martian Cow. Letider Pierce and Rachel Jones, close high school friends, are opposing each other for the Ladies' Wrestling Championship of the Universe. Butch Moore, rich rocket racer, has won the Saturn 500 in his souped-up Nash Ramble r. He was presented a trophy by Wilkes Dorriety, raceway owner, and given the winner's kiss by Miriam Humphrey, Miss Saturn 500 of 1981. Warren Anderson, rich playboy, will open a Drive-In on the dark side of the moon, where he can have a show every hour. His first movie will be The Quiet Lady, starring Mary Sue Hill. Cold-natured Louise Atkinson, famous pianist, is giving a charity recital for the polar bears in Alaska. Watson Timmons, rich oil tycoon, who owns the Royal Crown Hair Oil Company, has hired b a 1 dh e a d e d Sybil Copeland, scalp specialist, to sample his products. David Baroody, outstanding sculptor, is still trying to change the face of the man in the moon to a Burma Shave advertisement. Chan Weaver has won the $64,000 question, but Donnie Middle- ton failed to answer the jackpot question and won an old 1981 Cadil- lac. Don Young , baseball star of the Saturn Senators, has struck out in his attempt to marry Sherrill Jordan, wealthy heiress of a thriving hot dog business on Pluto. Joseph Hicks, president of the Pepsi-Cola Company, seems to be her choice. Heidi Yarborough is queen of Venus, with Rebecca Hill as her first lady. Oddly enough, Harriet Jordan is her court jester. Patricia Watford is a professional water skier on Neptune. Pulling her about is Alan Hobbs in his atomic-powered speed boat. June and Judy Parnell have just released their new space hit, Ghost Rockets in the Sky. Thier rich song writer is Sabra Strother. Billy McGee, famous scientist, has invented an acid that will dissolve anything. Now he's looking for something to keep it in. Thad White and Steve Rut le dg e , rocketeers from the space patrol, have arrested their old classmate Reggie Langston, for overloading his rocket. He had General of the National Guard,Mur- doch Lind,as one of his passengers. Mary Gibbs, space suit designer from Venus, is making suits to show off the figure of Joanne Jordan, Miss Solar System of 1981. Martha Howell and Doris Dairty have made a cool million operating a golf course on the spacious planet Jupiter. Cecelia Hill and Louis Sansbury, universally-known duet, are touring the planet, Cecelia playing her trumpet and Louis singing the space hits. Grover Campbell and Ellen Truluck are now married and have 421 children. They own the Inter-Space Orphanage on Mars. Annie Ruth and Joyce Driggers achieved fame by becoming the first women to cross the Milky Way in a flying saucer. Here in a nutshell are the occupations and lives of my forty-nine school-mates. In each person's case his life adds up to one tiling- success. I am proud to say that I was a member of that crazy and wonderful class -- that great class of '56.
