Now our school is one of the top-ranked vocational schools in the world. Four members of the Timken faculty have taught here since the school began. These four teachers have played an integral part in raising Timken's standards to those of a world renowned vocational institution. It was for this reason that the thirtieth edition of the Timken TIVO was dedicated to Miss Pauline Bridge, Mrs. Martha Clements, Mr. W. F. McArtor, and Mr. Wendell Graening. Miss Bridge received her Ph.B. from Denison University. Her initial year at Timken was spent teaching social science. Since then Miss Bridge has taught English II, journalism, and English III. The TYRO and TIVO might not have been if Miss Bridge, along with Mrs. Clements, had not taken the responsibility of advising both publications in their earlier years. A graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University, Mrs. Martha Strauch Clements has taught English III to students since 1959. Along with her duties as co-advisor of the TIVO and TYRO, Mrs. Clements assured the staff of good reporters by teaching jour- nalism until 1961. When English IV was added to the curriculum in 1967, Mrs. Clements was the natural choice to teach it. 2 DEDICATION Mr. Wendell Graening Mr. W. F. McArtor In his thirty years on the Timken faculty, Mr. Wendell Graening has taught all of the following subjects: Algebra I, geometry, Algebra II, trigonometry, general math, science, and business law. During World War II Mr. Graening, on a leave of absence from Timken served as a sergeant in the United States Army. He has his Bachelor of Science Degree from Mount Union College and his Master of Science from Akron University. c The dean of boys and assistant to the principal, Mr. W. F. McArtor, originally taught mechanical drawing and stage craft. He then became attendance supervisor and soon after that the boy's counselor. Mr. McArtor has his Bachelor of Science Degree from Bowling Green and his Master of Arts degree from The Ohio State University. It is a privilege to dedicate this annual to those four teachers. 3 TABLE OF CONTENTS VOCATIONAL EDUCATION CLASSES ' I-naw - Lf L E fffs: ' 1 mu ORGANIZATIONS H 4 ATHLETICS 1 ADMINISTRATION AND FACULTY SENIOR DIRECTORY INDEX PATRONS S, WT' , 6 VGCATIONAL EDUCATIGN . 7 ACCOUNTING AUTO SHGP AUTO BGDY BUSINESS MACHINESS COMMERCIAL ART 10 COSMETCLOGY DENTAL ASSISTANTS , '.1p.:,,---J '. . BOOSTER CLUB OFFICERS To gain student interest and participation in school- sponsored projects was the purpose of the Booster Club. Membership to the club was gained by selling three Booster Club Tickets at the beginning of the school year. During the year, the Booster Club sponsored buses to all away football and basketball games. Together with the Canton Repository, they put up a display of action picture of our teams. Officers were elected at the beginning of this year by the members of the club. VICA Timken's new chapter of V.I.C.A., the Vocational In- dustrial Clubs of America, began this year in November. The club was limited to students in the vocational or trade courses here at Timken. Its purpose was to give students an opportunity to participate in a club dealing with their vocations. The Ohio V.I.C.A. organization held two conventions in Columbus. At these conventions, state officers were elected. The students competed in contests with other Ohio vocational students. The 1968-69 football squad completed a rugged season with a 1-9-0 over-all record. Their single victory, however, was proof of their potential. The Trojans pounded Tuslaw 30-6. Bill Dinger, one of the captains, rambled for touch- downs on runs of 4 and 15 yardsg and Chester Brown, Trojan halfback, also ran 19 times picking up 115 yards against the Mustangs. The Trojans also intercepted four passes and covered four Tuslaw fumbles. Gary Fernandez nabbed two of the interceptions, while Otis Brooks and Mike Tracy had one apiece. Curtis Tinlin covered three of the four fumbles, while Terry Miller pounced on the remaining one. The conclusion of the Trojans' season was high- lighted by the individual efforts of Trojan end, Otis Brooks. Brooks was selected as an offensive end on the All-City and All-County teams. He was also chosen to be on the All Northeast Ohio team and as Honorable Mention on the All-Ohio squad. Bill Dinger takes the ball with plenty of blocking ahead of him.
