They are never alone that are accompanied with noble thoughts. It is hard for anyone to express in words the deep and sincere appreciation that the students of Timken Vocational High School feel toward Mr. H. H. Timken, the man whose conception made possible our school. Every town has schools: every city has schools: every state has schools-but not every city in America has such a beautiful school as ours-a school that makes it possible for girls and boys to become experts in their chosen profession. The school was made a reality by the Timken Foundation of Canton, of which Mr. H. H. Timken is president. In addition to Mr. Timken, the major donors to the Foundation have been his sisters, the late Mrs. Amelia C. Bridges and Mrs. Cora Timken Burnett. Our country needs men and women who can carry responsi- bilities and uphold peace and justice in the many years to come. What then is the starting point, the most vital fundamental, that tends to make good citizens? Education, of course! Education in a school like our Timken Vocational High School.

As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he. A smiling face, a friendly laugh, an encouraging word, a helping and guiding hand-all of these, and more, are the inspira- tions given to the students by our beloved superintendent, Mr. Iesse H. Mason. The days, weeks, months, and years of hard work that he spent in planning an appropriate program for our new school have not been spent in vain. For, behold, here we have a school that all the students love-one that we are proud to call our Alma Mater! The students of Timken Vocational High School dedicate the first edition of the TiVo to our superintendent, Mr. Mason, who because of his consideration and kindness has won the esteem and affection of the entire class of nineteen hundred and forty.
