' - ' 3 . - - ' . Guadeloupe It was not just a dream but a reality. The Seniors were told on the first day of school that their Senior Uip would be outside the U.S. That sounded won- derful to a lot of people but where was the money coming from ? With that ques- tion in mind but determined not to let it become a barrier, the Seniors went to work with 39,900 as their goal. Mrs. Miles, our advisor, was there to work and encom-age and Pastor Hatmacher was around to counsel and clear the way for projects. We sold posters and citrus fruit., washed cars and baked, had skat- ing parlies and Slave Days. At the fall festival we sold Brunswick stew and hot dogs. Later we had a spaghetti supper. Was it worth it? After we returned from Guadeloupe , we decided it is always worth the effort to make a dream into a realty! TOP LEFT: Every slave needs a break. I ORS MAKE IT The Beginning Of The End The year flew by with so much to do that the Seniors weren't quite sure where the time went to. Along with college boards, term papers and exams, there was the Senior trip to Guadeloupe . Graduation pictures, caps and gowns, and announcements were ordered. It was also a time for looking back and realizing we were the first to walk this pathway from T. C. S. Until then, we will be working diligently to gain the money we need for the trip. We will be following in the steps of the Seniors in many' of our fund-raising activities, plus a few new ideas of our own. Any early donations will be greatly appreciated, fHa Haj . This year our Ring Banquet was held at the Le Chateau. We are all very proud of our new rings . Our speaker was Reverend Paul I-Iatnnacher . We wound up the night with a trip to Gramp's and Granny's for ice cream. We slaved over PSAT's early in our junior year. They were difficult, but they helped to prepare us for the many college board tests that are to come. Even though we are very involved in school activities, we always manage to find time out for some fun. The SCA was formed and we had a column in the local newspaper called A Breeze From the Tomadoes. This year the Njl-IS had bi-weekly meetings. They participated in several projects, including food baskets for the needy at Christmas, caroling at the Medical Care Center and rais- ing money to help have the gym painted. The National Honor Society is comprised of juniors and Seniors who are selected for their excellence in citizenship, scholarship, leadership, and character. NHS members sponsored several projects such as carol- ing for elderly shut- ins at Christmas and selling posters to raise money for NHS insignia to be donated to TCS . They also planned and sponsored the induction cere- mony for new members in the spring. AT O AL HO UR SOCIETY 14 S. CA .... The SCA in it's first year, learned how difficult it was to be heard . The meetings were all about the same , a lot of discussion and no action. The SCA was limited as to how much they could accomplish. Many students voiced their grievances to the counsel. Crowded halls, long lunch lines, and the dress code, these were the main issues but were only discussed , as the counsel had no power to make changes. The guest speaker was Mr . Eddie Dobson , head soccer coach at Liberty Baptist College . The banquet started at 7:00 with the evening meal. After the meal, the speaker challenged the athletes with a stirring message . Ev- eryone enjoyed the message very much but were anxious to find out who would receive the awards.
