Lights to read by, fans to cool you, heat to cook your food, all are the Electrician Mates responsibilities. A Included in the division are the intercommunications men, the local rep- resentatives of the telephone company. NGINE RooMs It takes a lot to operate a ship. It takes skill and hard work and coopera- tion. It takes a little bit from everybody, but there is one department aboard any ship which is basic. That is the Engineering Department, the 'black gang'. 'the snipesf This department, under LT ANDERSON, provides the driving force which takes the ship anywhere. Besides, it is the organization which is so accom- modating with the various amenities of life that make ship board life al l s c ose to shore based life as possible.
