Their year began with a hilarious initiation giw en by the privileged upper-classxnen. Surviv- ing this they entertained the student body with a class assembly. Enjoying, success in these ventures they gathered together for a Sophomore Class Party. Then as an enjoyable climax for their year they sponsored a fre shman-sophomore dance to get acquainted with next year s newcomers. Between class activities the sophs produced some outstanding athletes! musicians and artists. The girls all-star basketball team included three sophomores- Bonnie White .ohnetta Burbank and Carol Leekinqton. Sustaining the class honor as badminton champs were oyce Gabriel and Suzanne Palmer. The all-star volley ball te am numbered LaVerne Bahm Libby Briscoe Bonnie Vlhite ohnetta Burbank and Phyletha Haron. Six sophomores were prominent football players-Bud and Marshall Con- ard. Diek Cary Dorence Noteboom Ted aeobs and Melvin Kimmel. The elass basketball players were Bud Conard Marshall Conard Dore nee Note boom. Harvey Nladding and Ce ne Williams. Leading class musicians were Don Adamson. trombone and piano: Cliff Fbert. saxaphone: I arry VVilson. saxaphone: and the popular girls quintet eanine Earl. Drusilla Hughson. Barbara Neiger. I aniee Crenshaw and Suzanne Palmer. ae- eompanied by l oyee Gabriel. Talented artists who proved their skill with play posters and cartoons were Ken Squier. Diek Rosin. Suzanne Palmer and LaVonna Smith. A together. the soph: had a good year. They quiekly adjufted themselvex to high school life and enjoyed their first year at Tilla Hi.
