The staff appreciates all that was done for them cmd ex- tends thanks to all those who contributed to the completion of this book. We wish to thank the School Board for their financial aid and the faculty members who have cooperated so well with the staff. We especially want to thank Mr. Wilkerson for his invaluable help with the photography. The Tillamook Naval Air Station was very kind again this year to give us many beautiful pictures with which we could carry out our theme. We also wish to thank Mr. Cronant of the Dorian Studio and Mr. Bell for their work and cooperation. And to the Conger Printing Company, we wish to express our gratitude for their fine cooperation, patience, and many helpful suggestions Contents FLIGHT PERSONNEL CO PILOT CANDIDATES AIRLINE OPERATIONS SCHOOL OF FLIGHT GROUND SCHOOL ina I .Sf 'S 17x Q45 'ik 'fir 'ik 5 I 'T . 'D I Lim-, il' ,ff XD Nar E oreword As the future will definitely bring the air age, we have chosen the theme, Flying High, for our 1946 Kilchis. Through this coming air age many dreams and ambitions will come true as many people are looking to the future with great anticipation. Generations past have seen the gradual change in the mode of travel, first by foot, then by horseback, and then by mechanized vehicles. Now we look to the air for our next transportation means which will be the greatest change in all history. Traveling by air saves a great deal of time and thus many people will get to see more of the world and further their education more rapidly. Also, there will be more ship- ping and faster shipping between countries as it will require less time to ship by air. They have made many cargo planes which will be able to carry many tons of shipping and less time to ship it. ' Already there is evidence of this new air age by the discoveries of new airplanes and the building of cheaper planes and also the numerous new airports being opened up. Many students are learning to fly which shows that the students of Tillamook High are det- initely preparing for the coming air age. However, the Seniors of THS will fly high in their dreams, hopes and plans and surely The horizon will Widen as they climb. uheT Ogdef 9 I' Rx Edna Boring Cxan? 4 Wonderful. mul nl Whatcha gel? Mr. Skinner has been in Tillamook High for nine years. He started out as principal, but when Mr. Hammersley was called into the armed service, he stepped into the position of superintendent and has ably-.filled that office for the past few years. He has been both ad- viser and friend and has helped the students to soar higher toward their goals. I DENNIS Mcoums Q-3 7 t The laughter of man is the contentment of God. As our principal for one and a half years, many students will remember Mr. McGuire as as good counselor and helper both in classes and out of classes. His departure from Tilla- mook at the end of the first semester caused a great deal of regret among faculty and students alike. 17 A man he seems of cheerful yesterdays and confident tomorrowsf' Mr. Wilkerson has capably fulfilled his job as our principal this second semester. He was a former teacher in THS but left to serve in the Army. At the time of his discharge he had attained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel and he was gladly welcomed back to THS as principal and teacher. JN '--ss. A --,-ff ff-' . , . . D figs lf I ml?
