 '0 EVENTS OF THE YEAR One of the highlights of Tildcn’s football season is the homecoming game. For the first time in the history of Tilden, girl students were on hand as cheerleaders and fans. One of the events of the fall semester is the Open House night. Mr. Kuehl, the machine shop instructor, has John Bowman demonstrate an engine-lathe as his mother looks on.

Page 76 PROLOGUE For the past forty years Tilden has been an all- male technical high school, producing students of outstanding abilities in almost every field. This past September, Tilden announced its plans to change gradually into a general co-educational high school. However, this will not interfere with those boys who are now taking a technical course. We are confident though that the freshman class will carry on the traditions which have made Til- den one of the finest schools on the South Side.

Mr. Davenport speaks to parents and relatives of students on the night of the Open House. Mr. Kubik greets parents and relatives of Tildenites during Open House. Tilden’s annual homecoming game is commemorated by the wearing of colorful derbies. Tildenites pic- tured here are purchasing derbies.
