IN MEMORIAM W». Ko o The School of Champions has lost a champion. One of the most colorful and dramatic personalities among its faculty has played her last game. For Mrs. Friedman, teaching was the most exciting of experiences. Nothing pleased her more than her return to the classroom this year to resume her teaching of Spanish. Note- worthy among her efforts was her work in behalf of Mexican immi- grants in whom she took a deep interest and who found in her a sympathetic friend and adviser. Mrs. Friedman was endowed with a brilliant mind as well as a great heart. The Spanish textbook in use in Chicago schools is her work. For a time she served on the faculty of the University of Chicago. In Mrs. Rose Friedman's death, Tilden and the community have suffered a great loss. 6 foreword • • When we looked ahead some time ago, Four years seemed mighty long; Looking backward now, we know. They've breezed by like a song. As freshmen we arrived one day At Tilden's open doors, Were met by swarms of Tilden Joes, And miles of corridors. To high school work we made a bow. In spots the going was rough; We worked and slaved, and then somehow, Wo managed to learn the stuff. Our sophomore year was fully parked, With many a challenging task; We tackled each one with a will And conquered them at last. At games we yelled both loud and long, To spur our teams to fame; None put more pep in Tilden's song, Sophs cheered at every game. We brought our teams to glory, Added gems to Tilden's crown; The school of champs continues thus, We didn't let her down!
