en Mr. West is in charge of all students who leave school for various reasons and he issues employment cards to boys who want either full or part-time work. He also registers for Selective Service the students who become eighteen years of age. He understands boys and their problems. He has a big job and is of great help to the students. ■PL ace men Mrs. Hilton's duties are many and varied. She is in charge of all permanent records. These records consist of test grades such as, read- ing, mathematics and entrance examinations. When teachers need to know more about a student, they refer to the records which Mrs. Hilton maintains. Problems of health and economic needs are also in her hands. Ippraiialand (Careers Miss Cullison is in charge of the Attendance Office. When boys are absent from school they must have a retum-to-school slip in order to be admitted to class. She is in charge of issuing these slips. She also checks on students who are absent from school too frequently. Miss Cullison has efficient attendance office guards who assist in filing division attendance reports and running errands. bitten clc enaance Miss Birmingham counsels boys who want to further their education. She is in charge of Appraisal and Careers. She informs students of the number of credits and subjects they need to get into the college of their choice. By testing them for their skills and aptitudes and pre- paring them for the college scholarship examination, she aids boys to find the work best for them. 12

These mothers and fathers co-operate with the faculty and the community to bring about closer relations between everyone inter- ested in Tilden students and better understanding of how to solve their com- mon problems. PTA members meet once a month. Their program this year was built around the theme: Building for Closer Unity in Home, School and Community.
