Miss Puder offers boutori- niere to Mr. Lakemacher while Mrs. Lakemacher looks on approvingly. Mr. Robert E. Lakemacher, principal of Tilden since February 1945, was transferred to the principalship of Schurz High School on February 13, 1950. While at Tilden Mr. Lakemacher was particularly interested in encouraging scholarship and to further this introduced the Principal's and Sponsor's Honor Lists. In keeping with his educational philosophy that boys in a technical school should be acquainted with the fine arts, well equipped music and band rooms were set up at Tilden. Mr. Lakemacher consistently worked for closer cooperation be- tween Tilden and the community. One method was by setting up the machinery providing student speakers and musicians for community organizations. In his relations with Tilden students Mr. Lakemacher showed a sympathetic un- derstanding of their problems. In his relations with Tilden teachers he showed a keen appreciation of their services.
