Tildenites, behold an intensified art course in ad- vertising taught by Miss Bohman. ln this course Tildenites with aptitude and patience can learn newspaper, magazine, and merchandise adver- tising. Neat lettering, figure drawing, and layout are stressed in the planning and designing of an ad acceptable to the advertiser and suitable for newspaper display or publicity. An extensive filing system of certain types of lettering, merchandise, and figures is maintained for ready reference. Under the tutelage of Miss Bohrnan, Tildenites have revealed hidden talents. Morton Cliff and Leo ..fgbLwrhBbmg .Aft ww ftnixy .,, Steinbrenner have become near experts in Roman and Script lettering. Frank Mattaliano, Frank Mitch- ell, Swan Oak, Herbert Wage, and Robert Wal- eryszak excel in figure sketching and layout work. Ray Zerula designed Tilden's annual Christmas card to servicemen. These boys look forward to positions in advertising. A regular visitor to the class is Mr. Harris Howler, director of advertising art in the Chicago Public Schools. To the anxious pupil he gives advice, encouragement, and some of the secrets of the trade acquired through life-long experience.
