Jerry stopped writing to Paulineg he spent allhis spare time dreaming about fried chicken and spoon bread. Pauline was patient for a while, for she knew it must be something like being in the Army. So she kept writing and shedding a tear now and then over the nice, plump-looking picture of Jerry, taken before he began to starve. But when Jerry let both Valent1ne's day and Easter pass without either candy or flowers, it was too much, and she accepted Dr. Ch1ld's proposal. CHather suspicious that Doc should have timed it so nicely just then.J After the Starvation Period, Jerry and Homer went into the restaurant business together.
