STeve Red AlperT, Irwin Zeke WorTman, Leon Pol- laclc, Howie Heiss, Jerry Weiss, STeve RoThenberg, Manny Cohen, and Saul BorensTein: and juniors, Ron Kemper, and Hal Judis. When The scheduled season ran ouT There was a Three way Tie Tor TirsT place beTween Tilden, Win- gaTe, and Erasmus. A playoTT was required, in which Tilden beaT Erasmus in a Thriller 57 To 5I, and WingaTe Then beaT Erasmus. A coin was Tlipped and The Blue and Gray won The TirsT place posiTion, WingaTe was second, and The DuTchmen were Third. Along wiTh The other glories oT TirsT place wenT The chance To play in The ciTy P.S.A.L. champion- ships. Our TirsT game was againsT our arch-rival JeTTe-rson. IT you wanTed To geT a quick ulcer you should have seen ThaT game. WiTh Two minuTes remaining in The Third quarTer JeTT was ahead by I0 poinTs. IT would Talce all The pages OT This year- boolc To Tell whaT occurred ThaT hecTic IasT quarTer. The Tinal score was Tilden 50, JeTF 45, so you can imagine whaT happened. By beaTing JeTT we earned The right To play in Madison Square Garden in The quarTer-Tinals. We drew Seward as our opponenT. We romped over The Bronx school by I8 poinTs, 64 To 46. IT was The TirsT Time a Tilden baslceTbalI Team had reached The semi-Tinal round oT The championships. We Then had To play The defending ciTy champs, Boys High. Ronnie Kemper paced Tilden wiTh The games high of 23 pginTs. BuT, we IosT 60 To 50. In a consolaTion game Tor Third place in The ciTy we were beaTen by Morris High School, 70 To 47. Anyhow, we wound up TourTh in The ciTy, ouT of some sevenTy compeTing Teams. IT was a greaT Team and will surely be remem- bered by The senior class oT l958. o Under The able hand of AnThony DeEronzo, This years naTaTors had an impressive 8 win and 4 loss record. The rnermen deTeaTed Lincoln, Jefferson, Madison, Midwood, New UTrechT, WingaTe, Eras- mus, and I-lamilTon. They were deTeaTed by Tech. Boys, CurTis, and Manual. On January 24, aT N.Y.U.'s Quigley Pool, Tilden was represenTed in The P.S.A.L. CiTy Einals by Cap- Tain STeve Serlin in The 200 yard TreesTyle evenT, Cy Gross in The l00 yard baclcsTrolce. and Jerry Greenberg in The 50 yard TreesTyle. STeve placed TourTh, Cy placed TiTTh, and Jerry placed TourTh. One brighT noTe ThaT should be added is The TacT ThaT coach DeEronzo was named To The Advisory Rules CommiTTee oT The NaTional lnTerschoIasTic Swim AssociaTion.
