Due To The ban on exTra-curricular acTiviTies, mosT oT The sporTs acTiviTy occurred during our lasT year aT school. ln spiTe oT The TacT ThaT our grid eleven was hard hiT by The ninTh Term ruling which resulied in The loss oT many sTars, we did manage To upseT Two oT The leagues Top Teams, Boys High and Manual Training. The 7-7 Tie To which we ToughT Boys High had To be Tor- TeiTed laTer because oT Tilden's inadverTenT use of an ineligible player. The l8-7 upseT oT Manual TeaTured a brillianT exhibiTion by Bush Herman, The Tlashy Blue and Gray halTbaclc. The season's highlight however, was The TradiTional Tilden-JeTT Thanksgiving Day TilT. fNTTer leading aT The halT I3-IZ, Tilden Tailed To score in The Third period while The PresidenTs Tallied once To lead I8-I3. ln The lasT quarTer aTTer The Blue and Gray had Talcen The lead once again 20-18, JeTTerson hiT pay dirT To lead, wiTh Two minuTes To go, 24-I8. Then one oT The mosT Thrilling climaxes in The hisTory oT The Tilden-JeTT rivalry ensued. The Blue and Gray sTaged a 65 yard march Tinally scoring wiTh a pass Trom Wolfe To CourT as only 30 seconds remained in The game. The seasons end Tound Two Tilden linemen, Jerry CourT and Howie Slossberg being elecTed To All-MeT. berThs wiTh CourT also geTTing a posiTion on The All-American High School Grid Eleven. J

Among The squads sTrong men were Kaminslcy, Shapiro, Bressaclc and FinkelsTein, The laTTer Two were awarded berThs on The CiTy PSAL swimming Team. Among some OT The season's wins were Grady and HamilTon, while we susTained loses aT The hands oT Tech, Erasmus, JeTTerson and CurTis. The Tilden HoopsTers, all inexperienced in PSAL play sTarTed The season raTher poorly wiTh only a 3-4 record Tor The TirsT halT. Under Coach Krugman's experT handling and wiTh a liTTle experience, The Team surprised everyone, wiTh Tour sTraighT wins in The second halT. AT The ouTseT oT TryouTs, The coach reTused To accepT any Seniors so ThaT The Team would noT susTain any losses by a January graduaTion. This policy resulTed in a well organized ball club which deTeaTed Brooklyn Tech, EasTern DisTricT, AuTomoTive and WesTing- house, and Tinished The season wiTh a 7-7 record in a TourTh place Tie wiTh AuTomoTive. The Blue and Gray Tive was sparked by such sTandouTs as Shelly Pollaclc, Gil Kaplan, Bob Turpin, and lrwin Ginsberg. GT These sTarT- ers, boTh Pollack and Kaplan Tinished The season wiTh more Than IOO poinTs in The scoring column. WiTh reTurn oT exTra-curricular acTiviTies, The girl resumed Their aThleTic compeTiTion. Under The direcTion oT Miss lv1cAleer, The new girls gym deparTmenT head, many a new Temale aThleTic club was Tormed. A girls swimming club was organized, wiTh The only qualiTicaTions Tor membership being an inTeresT in waTer acTivi- Ties. The club meT once a weelc under The supervision oT Mrs. Farley and iT TeaTured periods oT insTrucTion as well as acTive compeTiTion.
